Charlottechicken
We really want a couple of acres in Shropshire, no neighbours, loads of animals and a big veggie patch, not much to ask is it Not a problem if you don't mind living in a tent though Debs. Or buy an old Winnebago BTW, as you have a paint brush in your hand could you pop over and do the gloss in my bathroom please

AnnieP
OK: I'm going to have rant here.... batten down the hatches: When you go away with that many children, you inevitably have to deal with home sickness, real sickness, have no sleep AT ALL, have to be on duty for them 24 hours a day, do EVERYTHING they do: ie. rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing, body boarding etc, inevitably get thrown in the pool, get chased, supersoaked etc. be happy and jolly all the time because it is their holiday after all and at the end, when you finally get them all safely back home, some parent will make a wise crack about you having a nice free holiday! I always count how many "thank you"'s I get when they kids are being collected (sad, I know). It usually takes no more than 5 fingers.... I have only ever been a given a present once (a much welcome bottle of wine), and I've been doing this trip annually for over 15 years! Phew, rant over: As you can tell, I can't wait! Debs, I am sure Harry would have the manners to say thank you at the end: He's a smashing lad!

theherd123
BIG thunder & lightning here! Now comes the rain bouncing off the windows, it was quite warm earlier I feel really sorry for Howard & Hilda, a couple of wood pigeons that visit our garden, they are hiding under a fern in the borders

Egluntyne
Just been over to Manchester....coolish but sunny and then on the way home the heavens opened and it rained stair rods. Seems to have been okish in Sheffield.
Nicola H
Sorry about the rain in Manchester i think it may have been my fault, I mentioned the B word yes BBQ and the heavens opened now that the burgers are under the grill the sun is out again.......... Egluntyne
I can make it rain. I have two sure fire ways which never fail 1. Hang washing out under a clear blue sky and then go out for the day. 2. Get your hair looking just as you would like it to and then go out without an umbrella. When I was at school I found that if I wore my blazer....even in the middle of a heat wave...it would rain. I had local gardeners begging me to wear it!
susanbb
Bizzarely, it has been sunny and warm here. Only tomorrow will tell Susan
Lesley
I sent Lauren and Jake out to the top of the field with some biscuits and a drink for the workers - not far, but they left under a blue sky and sunshine and got hlaf way before the heavens opened They threw the goodies at Matthew and Hugh and ran for shelter - in with the sheep! I watched from the back door
Chicken Licken
I'm with Annie P - Just occasionally it would be nice to get a thank you - used to run D of E and gave up in the end - either we were back too early or too late, never just a 'thank you for taking..... away for the week end'. This year not even a field trip - It will feel very weird - but welcome after a decade.
fourfinches
Spent the day near Ipswich at the Suffolk show. We went prepared for the weather with fleeces, waterproofs and wellies. The forecast rain didn't materialise and we wandered around in t shirts! I can sympathise with you Annie P, I used to be a cub leader and regularly gave up holiday time to take them or the scouts camping - as you say a thank you was a rareity.
