johnandkymberley
i would leave to see your new hens, sorry to ask but why did your others get put to sleep? so sorry to hear about it xxx Charlotte was very poorly and just seemed to sleep all the time - there was nothing the vet could do for her ....and Matilda had ongoing peritonitis problems and a limp which although she'd had for a while, suddenly got much worse and she couldn't scratch in the soil or itch herself without falling over. It was horrible to watch them both suffer and although I kept thinking 'oo, they look brighter today' they were getting worse and I couldn't do it to them anymore. It was one of the worst days I've ever had - and I dread the day my lovely Daisy dog goes to doggy heaven....she is getting on a bit now ( 14 and half ) Photos coming soon, I managed to take one of all of them by dodging the showers today....just have to get hubby to make it smaller ( can't do pc pics by myself ) So sorry to hear about your story, i think everyone on here feels for you. but on the bright side, beautiful girls, very very gorgeous! Do you like "real" names or "animal" names, im not a big fan of animal names like snowy etc but thats just me! What about Olivia, Bella, Lia, Evie, Sophia, Zoe, Grace,Clara, Dolly, Emily, Mya/Mia, Emma or Ava? or you could go with something unusual - Aoife (pronouced EE-FA) Aurora or Aiobhinn (pronounced EE-vin) i work in a school, so lots of names about! lol Do you like any of them? xx

It's a Fried Eglu (classic) - thankfully not QUITE as big as a cube but you should have seen the struggle getting it into the lounge and out of the box!!!! Yes, it goes outside - in bits!!! witzend
re the names - I quite like trying to find links between things.................what about the names from a girls band or nursery rhyme - hickory/dickory/dock + 1 !

I was thinking maybe Fudge for the chocolate wyandotte, Smartie for the barred wyandotte ( she has no leg ring and was the first to come to my hand for corn ) and maybe Pepper and Humbug for the other 2. I must admit I do normally call my animals proper names but these all look so unusual it's hard to pick. As for my lilac cube I love it, but I see they no longer sell it so I guess it didn't sell well, 2 more eggs today as well Thanks every one for all your support and comments, they have been much appreciated xxx
Chortle Chook
Oh I love your hens and the names you are going to give them too, especially Humbug. Well done you. (Should 'Fudge' be something a bit more chocolaty perhaps ... 'Snickers' as she has lacy knickers )

Chook n Boo Mum
oooo I like that little chocolate girl ...........may have to get some eggs to stick under my broody marans.........so much for buying POL hens to increase my winter egg supply Do 'dottes lay all year or are they fussy over day light like my Pekins & Orpies? Sha x
Redwing
My dottes certainly came back in to lay quicker than my orp or Pekins I cant remember the date they started laying again but the fact that I was hatching in early Feb indicates that I had eggs in January
Luvachicken
Thought I'd update everyone with their names which have finally been decided on - Hubby thought they deserved real names - so, here goes the chocolate wyandotte is to be called Poppy, as the first thing she ate when in the play area was my prized poppies, growing through the other side of the fence the barred wyandotte will be called Phoebe - cos I just like it, the cuckoo wyandotte with a blue leg ring is to be Myrtle - she makes a lot of noise and sounds like she is moaning - so moaning Myrtle and the other cuckoo with a yellow leg ring is to be Melody - cos she joins in with the noise of the other one. I hope you like my choices
Space Chick
Lovely names I agree that wyandottes get over the winter break and broody breaks quicker they are also such lovely, quiet girls as a rule
Luvachicken
Maybe the last 2 didn't get to read the manual about being quiet

pips_pekins
I agree. You have chosen lovely names for your gorgeous girls. I got a bantam dotte yesterday and am so pleased I did. They are a great choice and I now can see why they are so popular.
