Oh me too Clare.

I had a steaming row with him indoors last week because I wouldn't give one of his rubbish sci fi movies more than 15 minutes of my time, despite it being 'a classic'

I know what I like, & that was not it!

He seems to think that his opinion outweighs mine each time,& that he is always right.

Little does he know............

re the book,I will try it again,as I recently tried another book again ('The help'), which I hated the first time around.

It has now turned out to be one of the best books i have ever read.

Maybe I will try it on me hols next week :P

 Oh we don't argue about it... Phil will sometimes turn up for the weekend with a DVD and say 'I don't know if you will like this or not', he's not annoyed if i don't and I will just go off and do something else that needs sorting. The same if we're out for the day; we will often have different things that we'd like to see or do, so we split up to do that and then meet up later. Luckily neither of us particularly likes shopping.

Ah well, the argument was because in HIS opinion I was being pig headed & not giving it a try.

We do do our own things a lot too.

And we both agreed that 'Bridesmaids', which we saw last week, was the most shocking heap of twaddle that either of us had ever seen :lol::lol::lol:

A girl genius with an extremely troubled background fighting to right some of the wrongs that have happened to her, alongside an obsessive journalist who's own investigations run along side hers with dramatic consequences.

They are wordy in parts, but utterly gripping in others. They give an interesting insight into life in Sweden, it's politics and dark fringes.

I have read all three, they are like watching a thriller epic, sometimes stretching plausibility, but you can't put them down.

Referring to another author mentioned in this thread, Peter James, he is my OH's favourite author, his books are dark but gripping.

One of mine too from an earlier post somewhere around. BTW Cinnamon I have LOVED the Shardlake books by CJ Sansom- have just got the last two from our school library for the summer.

Oh I am glad that there are other people that don't like the Girl with the Dragon Tatoo as so many people I rate rave at me about it.

I put it on my kindle and did really persevere; I got about 30% in but just found it so boring. I felt like I was wading through, it was just too wordy and detailed to hold my interest. I did like her though, her character was the only interesting part I found.

I have only ever given up on one book before, the talented Mr Ripley

I struggled to get into the first book, but glad I persevered, all 3 books were very gripping!

I think the hard part at first was the unfamiliarity with Sweden, the 'foreign' place names and character names etc - it took much longer than usual to become familiar with the characters, like trying to read something in an unfamiliar language. Well worth the effort though.

I must be the only one who cant get into it then! I started but gave up... note to self: try harder next time.

I'm glad you said that! My mum has read them and loved them. I got one for my kindle but I just cannot get into it at all. I can't be bothered to try either at the moment as I have so many other books to read. I might attempt at a later date.
