This is a design classic and a brilliant feat of engineering and construction and if you start thinking of the amount of work it must take to build one of these, then you can sort of justify the cost.

Whether or not it is a practical way to keep chickens remains to be seen.

For those of you that would like to take a closer look, here is a link with a lot more pictures.

It's very stunning and clearly an amazing piece of design and engineering, but I wouldn't score it very high practically. It doesn't look very easy to clean out; there don't seem to be any nest boxes and the roosting bars would only seem to fit one chicken, maybe two.

A lovely work of art though!

Oh, my ..... it looks lovely, but:

How could you attach a run to that? It needs to be on it's own somewhere in the garden, just looking gorgeous, not surrounded by weldmesh or eletric fencing

However would you clean it? As said above, it won't look so beautiful with chicken poo all over the inside!

Imagine red mite in there ...

I'm just too pragmatic for this sort of thing. It's been designed to look good in the garden, not designed to suit hens/hen-keeping, in my view. Oh well, that's £1950 saved - now, what can I spent that on instead!

If you had a Danish Modern, or the like type house I could see you keeping maybe two hens if your backyard in one of these. However, it looks so small and confining and I worry about ventilation. Of course, everyone I know who lives around me in California hated the Eglu too until they got to see mine in person. So, I'd love to see one of these before I make my final vote.
