The Dogmother
the can keeps getting bigger and there are more and more worms by the minute...Rebekah Brooks must have some major hold on Murdoch as he is still supporting her. I understand that they are 'close'
squiffs
That sounds like a "must see" - I love This Week - have a slight crush on Michael Portillo. I love him too! I loved that sexy green shirt he wore a while back that Andrew won't let go
majorbloodnock
it's all a case of can... worms... all over the place. Not so much a can as a sewer, and the more one searches, the worse it gets. To be honest, though, I do have a soft spot for Rupert Murdoch. The Goodwin sands, to be precise....

I've now got to the point where I had been reading it with disbelief, but now I just can't bear to look at any articles.... it makes me feel sick. beach chick
just heard on ITN news at 1.30 that News Corp share price in New York has fallen by 40%; however Mr. M wants to buy back a huge amount of shares, so he is not at all unhappy - so maybe his support of Rebekah Brooks is part of a long game? Old Speckled Hen
just heard on ITN news at 1.30 that News Corp share price in New York has fallen by 40%; however Mr. M wants to buy back a huge amount of shares, so he is not at all unhappy - so maybe his support of Rebekah Brooks is part of a long game? Curious.........How was the story of the hacking broken? It WILL blow over and Murdoch will be an even richer man. It beats me, what can you really do with all that dosh? Even Bill Gates has given most of his away.
The Dogmother
Soooo, he will have more shares then , but they will be worth less for now. They may go back up in price, they may not. Either way, he's a reptile
beach chick
he's a gambler (in the business sense) tho - so he will buy them cheap, then quite possibly change the management, see the shares rise etc etc etc. reptile or not, he's a clever businessman, and the current Mrs M is pretty sharp too... Tiggy
never have and never will, total rag. all of this just confirms what I've always felt about this type of jounalisum, they should be tracking down corrupt politicans, bankers, crimials and the like not delving into the personal lives of ordinary people struggling with terrible circumstances. How dare they even think that its in the public interest what sort of people do they think we are

chicken bark
Except they are suggesting the Sun will be 7 days a week instead.
C&T
Glad it's closing. But wonder what will happen to all the employees - they won't just disappear, and I can't believe their dodgy practices will just stop because one paper closes. I refuse to believe that NOTW are the only ones hacking and using other dubious "research" methods. I sincerely hope that Fleet Street are able to better police themselves in the future - a free press is important, but there is a responsibility that goes with that. Chucky Mama
It had to go but there needs to be one heck of a shake up and that has to include how we all view the media.

majorbloodnock
They will just relaunch it with a new name I bet. Same staff. Same tactics. Same stench of corruption. New logo. Yes, pretty much guaranteed I'd say. I'm not so sure. If that was all that happened, I can't see it being long before the competing papers found out. At that point, investigative journalism at its most incisive, News International would have just handed their competitors their next headline along with a topical story with plenty of "people interest". No, I think they'll be somewhat more subtle than that, and quite possibly more ruthless than that too. They'll fill the gap with a rag, I'm sure, but I reckon they'll go to great effort to distance the new tat from the old.
