Eh? It was my grey roots (hair!!!) I was talking about!!! No offence intended to those who come from the Black Country. My Great Grandparents came from there....Dudley and Hazel Slade. ( that was where they came from....on re reading it you could mistake it for their names!! I've never heard of grey peas though. Tell us more! Guest
I have just read your post again I can't believe you have never heard of grey peas and bacon I will see if I can find a recipe My nan used to make them they are sort of like mushy peas but they are greyish brown in colour and have bacon bits in them They look disgusting but taste gorgeous. If you are ever in Wolverhampton you will have to visit a pub called the Great Western (near our old Low Level Station) it is a very traditional pub, that sells proper beer and serves Black Country food like faggots and peas and grey peas and bacon. It even has cheese and onion cobs (our local name for rolls, baps) on the bar, which are served with the obligatory black pudding Dan is a big fan of this pub cos, he can sit in the beer garden and watch the trains go past, did he ever tell you he liked trains
Martin B
Cobs! We use that down here in Alcester too, and they use it in Derby. I am pretty sure it's a midlands thing!

theherd123
Cobs - yes its a Midlands thing as the OH uses it! Up north we have muffins - not the cake things but like a bread roll. In the chippy you can order a chip muffin!
