OK, so if I but a concert ticket & I am having it delivered,I expect there to be a charge.

That is not a problem at all,BUT.....

I just bought a pair of gig tickets for my girls & they are charging £2 to send you an email,with the tickets attatched which you then print off yourself.

Even worse,they are charging £1.50 per ticket for you to pick them up from the box office.

 

Makes my blood boil,such blatant profiteering

It cannot be justified; if they were clever, they'd incorporate into the ticket price itself, but they're astromonical in themselves

I dont understand booking fees. Most can not be avoided at all and it makes no difference how you pay for the ticket, where you purchase it or even if its collected. So why is it not just part of the ticket price.

 

We took our son to the cinema recently and as we live so far from the cinema we booked the tickets on line, my god how expensive (and just for a kids film) and on top of the extortionate price we had to pay booking fee. WHY no one had to deal with us, it wasnt a credit card and we picked up the ticket from a machine...so in fact we saved them staff

Our local cinema annoys me greatly because they charge a card handling fee of £1.40 for online bookings. With four children, quite often if we go to the cinema some will want to see one film while the others watch another. I then have to pay two card handling fees because their pathetic website will not let me buy tickets for two films in one transaction

I took the children, three of them to see Hop earlier this year. After the tickets I bought them all a small drink & popcorn. This (with tickets) came to £40!!! I hate to say this as I believe in supporting our film industry (my dad was a sound editor) but we will not be going to the cinema again, dvd's all the way from now on

Booking fees really annoy me, they sell tickets that's their job, why charge extra for doing so? Imagine if the supermarkets started charging a fee for scanning your shopping, there would be uproar

Surely they should be encouraging people to be green & do this at home,& helping us save a bit by not charging???

As for the charge to pick them up from the box office - I think that is truly taking the mick!

It cost £1.70 per ticket extra for a booking fee more some music tickets for me.

£3 I think was the booking fee for Odeon. I understand if they had a small booking fee (e.g 50p per transaction) or something to cover the cosst of maintaing the website, but not that much!

 

At Norwich Airport it now costs £10 per adult per flight for an 'airport development fee'!

I agree, I heard somewhere that these booking fees had something to do with the VAT liability of the suppliers, however, I get so angry when many theaters offer absolutely no way of buying a ticket at face value - even if you turn up at the box office in person, in advance with cold hard cash - surely this should be illegal.

One, to see Whitesnake at Wolverhampton Civic, has charged £10.75 on top of the price of two tickets, for all the handling fees. The NEC Arena (or LG Arena ) has charged £11 on top of a pair of £45 tickets, to see Motley Crue/Def Leppard, meaning I've spent over £100 for the first time for a pair of tickets . At that price I refuse to buy any merchandise, or food/drink.

Oh yes. Sneak cocktails in in capri sonne pouches. After Bloodstock 2008 I gave up on seeing live music unless it's a dj/producer so the show goes on from 9pm - 6am, that's the only way you get your money's worth.

When we were in America we bought tickets for the Nascar Nationwide Cup online at the hotel. Only once we had paid did we get to a page which said "you now need to print these tickets". Of course, the computer we were on had no printer and the only computer with a printer was not connected to the internet.

 

In the end, we found a little computer repair shop and stopped for "advice"... and he printed them out for us (3 tickets = 3 pages). Charged us nothing, not even the cost of a beer.

They do already though, plum. I bought 2 tickets to see angelos epithemiou at the brighton dome earlier in the year from a well known ticket distributor, and much to my chagrin, found the tickets to be 2.50 cheaper if I bought them from the brighton dome website, with both charging a 1.50 booking fee.

It's when I am buying directly from the source it irritates me.

 

I work for an agent, so can understand in many repects the reasons for their booking fees etc, but not when I am buying directly from the theatre or cinema...

I think the problem is if you advertise a price it should be inclusive of fees, ryanair come under scrutiny for it all the time, and if there's a question mark over their pricing practices, then it should be applied across the board, surely.

I have just checked prices for a festival DS wants to go to next summer. Booking fee is £12.50 per ticket Once you have put the tickets in your basket, it asks you to choose method of delivery but there is only one option, by post. This costs an additional £4.95. For 2 tickets it is almost thirty quid more than the original ticket price!
