pips_pekins
Hi. I have 4 bantams but only 2 who are laying. I have not had any eggs for a almost a week now. Do you think this is it for the Winter or should I be concerned about them? This is probably a totally stupid question, they look fine but being new to chickens, I don't want to find that I have perhaps overlooked something more sinister. chookingham
I have 6 hybrids and 3 orps. The orps stopped laying about 3-4 weeks ago and my 3 new girls are only just at 22 weeks so not yet started, although Bert, my speckledy did crouch for me yeasterday so it won't be long now. But the other three are useless!! 1 egg yesterday and none today - it's not even as if they are that old yet. Not moulting, been wormed recently, plenty of ACV & poultry spice, plenty of free ranging, no shocks (unless you count having their vicious dictator segregated away from them) so no reason other than the changing seasons for the drought. Don't they know I have customers waiting?
Chortle Chook
I have 8 girls 7 of whom are being about as useful at the moment as my cockerel. I was getting used to my daily delicious egg for breakfast and most of this summer I had ones to give away too, but yesterday and today just one egg. OK so that is my breaky tomorrow sorted but I'll be dismayed if I have to start going back to shop bought eggs

sparkysmum
Mine have all but stopped too..............it's going to be a long wait without my lovely eggies. One dumpy seems to be still laying though, hope she'll carry on for a bit yet.
chookingham
Do you think the chooks know something that we don't about the winter ahead and are trying to conserve energy Last winter we had 2-3 eggs every day, even on the coldest darkest days.... Chicken Kitty
It's turned into an egg-free zone here too!

I do wonder because my Silkies laid all through last winter too.
ali-s
Eleven girls here with only Lily the Whitestar laying. The others are either moulting, given up until Spring, broody, too old or simply too pretty to be bothered. I am going to have to buy eggs this weekend if any baking is going to happen.
