Feel like crying!

Recommended Posts

I went to shut the chickens in tonight and one of them is missing! :( Dill is an ex batt that I have had since May!! My daughter and I have scoured the garden with torches in the rain and even used the Springer spaniel to sniff her out but nothing. There are no holes in the fence that I can see so she can't get out on her own. This is going to be a very long night I feel sick!!!:cry:

My lovely home hatched Poland cockerel decided to disappear on one of the coldest nights we had last winter (it was -8!) and I was worried sick and did indeed cry :( but Lo and behold when I went out to let everyone out in the morning I heard a plaintive croaky crow coming from next door and apart from looking rather frosty, he was none the worse for the experience after a bit of warm weetabix!

Keeping my fingers crossed that your girl has found someone where nice and safe for the night and that she'll be back with you tomorrow.

Good luck Treacle, I hope that you either find your girl tonight or she is there waiting for you tomorrow.

I can so sympathise as ast winter one of my ex batts went missing in howling wind and lashing rain (just like tonight here) and me and my husband went out looking for her at 6 in the pitch dark. we eventually found her cuddled up under a fallen tree in a lovely dry and wind free place. Clever girl as she'd only been out of the cages for six months!

Oh Treacle I do keep my fingers crossed for you  but don't under-estimate the ability of an ex-bat to survive. They are nothing if not survivors.

By the way, karlotta, my Poland flew over to the neighbours too - on day one - just to check out whose garden she would like best. Luckily she found the grass wasn't greener (they had a girly whippet who peed on it all) and has never done it again.
