I think it looks a bit like an eggy bunk bed - or will do when I fill it with eggs

That's grand. I think they had ones a bit like that in Victorian times. I'd like one with holes small enough to take banty eggs. Those I have found so far are too big and my little banty eggs just go plop right through

My dad did make it specially for my little eggs - as like you say they do tend to fall through and break

Thanks for that link JanTheDiver. Alas, I do have one of these (a nice cream one bought from Omlet) but I found that my chooks' eggs don't role down when you take the bottom one so I am forever re-arranging them downwards. I have seen a sort of wooden one that looks like a seesaw but I cant' remember where I spotted it.

I agree about the Egg Skelter; fantastic idea and looks really cool but our banty eggs turn around and create a jam and you end up having to re-arrange them I ended up dropping an egg last night whilst trying to do this It's annoying

I'm not over impressed with my Egg Skelter either, as it always has a hold up in it somewhere.

Having read about your egg skelters I'm glad I saved my money and asked my Dad if he could come up with anything.

I gave him the smallest and biggest eggs my girls had laid and he set off back to Waterlooville to make it for me.

Then he gave it to me at the weekend . Mind you I had to tidy up my kitchen to find it somewhere nice to go.

We have a skelter, its OK, but the best thing is knowing which are the oldest eggs without having to write on them.

There are 6 of us in the house, so it isn't as straightforward trying to get everyone to take the oldest first if they arn't labelled

With the skelter everyone gets it right.

Thanks luvachicken those are pretty egg holders, but I'd never dare buy directly online unless they say they are for banty eggs as I feel sure that my Poland's eggs would go straight through. Dotty not only lays rather small eggs but also they are a funny bullet shape with no fat end
