jackian
They look like they are having a great time and you too enjoying them My girls love it.Once one starts they all have a go , a little family all grouped together.Like.... "Why should she have all the fun" The sun in the morning comes just at the end of their WIR and they love dust bathing and the sun on their backs . Your girls look quite young looking at their combs but if they start squatting you have not long to wait.
Purplemaniacs
They look like they are having a great time. They are not very red in the face yet so I think you will have a good few weeks to wait for eggs, they look quite young. Chrissie
Chortle Chook
Oh, all that dirt on those pretty white feathers. Chickens have no dress sense
cloud
Looking at their combs, I predict you have another couple of weeks to wait for the one o the left, and more for the other two on the right. Our Sussex (Siouxsie) get really grubby by using a dust bath she and the rest of the girls have created under the fir trees where the soil is bone dry. They have a communal bathe most days, but Siouxie is the one that seems to come out looking worse than when she went in. They all love it though. beccauk
They do start to look dirty when there having a dust bath, they must weigh more by the time they have finished carrying all that soil round until they shake it out lol i keep hoping i dont have to wait long i can tell one is getting redder but no squatting yet. I did put another post regarding them doing this the first time, 1 didnt dust bath and started pulling at the feathers on one of the other hens and eating them, has anyone else experienced this? As havent had any response I did shoo the hen from doing it as the vitim wasnt enjoying having feathers pulled. Becca
