Space Chick
100 rows in on my jumper back..... I make a mistake (knitted 2 rows and missed a purl row as was distracted by OH), I tried to undo but ended up dropping LOADS of stitches..... Therefore, I needed to pull the whole lot I need to start again I may try another jumper with another yarn first, I'm too upset to start the purple again If I do the purple it'll just feel like I'm re-doing, but if I start a new one it'll feel like a new project.... Does that make any sense
ClaireG
Oh no Yes, starting a new project makes sense to me!
Snowy
The one thing I hate about knitting - how some people can just pull back a few rows is beyond me, I always lose the lot! I feel your pain Debs. Start a new one
Space Chick
I've ordered a lovely chenille wool, if that comes tomorrow I'll start that one (it'll be a thicker v neck)
chickencam
If I have to unpick, which I keep having to do on my current jumper because I am rushing it so that I can start on the cardy challenge, I do it a stich at a time unpicking with the other needle I always lose control when i take the work off the needles. Start a new project, find OH a hobby and put it down to experience
Purplemaniacs
Oh no and the purple sounded lovely Do another project and then go back to the purple one My mum used to be brilliant at undoing and picking up the stitches again sadly she is no longer here to help but I do think of her as I knit which is nice Hope your wool comes today. Duncan08
Hence why I don't really knit I am too impatient, and make mistakes that I always had to take to my mum. She has dodgy shoulders now so can't knit so much. I just can't see it, and if I try and fix things end up making it worse. Unfortunately I would have to say wind it up and start something else then go back to it. And enjoy the wine!
MummyHen
Oh no - It can be so annoying Top tip is that if you're doing a complex pattern or even if you are unsure about your knitting is to add a safety line every couple of inches - once you're happy with the work - is to add a safety line. I use dental floss - thread a darning needle with the floss and then thread it thru the stiches on the needle before you carry on with the next row. Break off the floss. and if you make a mistake later on you can frog back to the safety line There are YouTube videos - here's one which shows what I mean

chickencam
What a great tip, I have never heard that before
craftyhunnypie
Ooo minty knitting, sounds fab! No, really that's a good idea! I can actually just about manage to pull back my knitting & keep all my stitches. It is so irritating to do though & I sometimes put my stitches on the needle the wrong way. But I can correct these when I re knit them. I will use the dental floss idea! Now - will it be freshmint or spearmint? Emma.x
scubababe
I have a gorgeous dress pattern, 1950's Ginger Rogers style evening gown, bought this beautiful material, made the dress for a ball we were going to. tried it on the day before the ball & I looked like a sack of potatoes in it!! The dress is lovely, just doesn't suit me!! hubby saw how distraught I was as I was so pleased I was going to wear MY dress he gave me some money so I rushed out and bought a gorgeous dress in the sale...much better than I could have made i will return to the dress and alter it. Just need to get over the 'disappointed' stage first or I'll just take scissors to it
