The tadpoles in our pond have just changed into frogs - tiny little black things with legs (as you might expect - but don't tell anybody French). I don't know if you can see them in this picture - you have to look really closely. There's loads of them in the crack in the stones.

Frogs are lovely, not at all slimy, but surprisingly strong when they try and wriggle out of your hand! I didn't know that they could make an awful screaming sound when in danger , I found this out when one was cornered by two of my girls whilst free ranging.

I love frogs, toads and spiders as they all eat fly's

 

I don't like wasps much though, but love bees.

 

I have never been stung by a wasp, but have been stung by a bee, I felt soo guilty wasps sting cos they can, bees do it in self defence.

Lovely, Richard! I'm a froggy fan too. We had loads of tadpoles but I don't know what they're doing at the moment. I love it when you're looking in the pond and suddenly you spot a tiny, perfect little frog .

I love froggies too. No pond in our garden, but loads of toads hiding form the chooks.

I suddenly heard a screeching from the garden yesterday - chooks had found a frog hiding between the hedge and the wall so for the second time in two weeks it was one chicken under each arm and they got marched back to their run while I hurriedly put together a makeshift fence comprising of expandable trellis, a watering can and spare roosting bars to protect the frog

We've got quite a few little newts as well - but I haven't been able to get a photo. The Toadpoles (is that what you call the toad equivalent?) have just got small back legs and are lurking in the blanket weed - so I'm waiting for the little toads.

 

Sad to say I have witnessed Georgie and Doris fighting over a frog - holding one leg each and tugging. Not a pretty sight. Still, that's nature; they did the same over worms and pasta!
