Loud Party & a little sweet revenge

Recommended Posts

A house a few doors away had a party. We've put up with this for a few years now and it was the usual foul-mouthed shouting, thumping music, glass smashing scenario. It stopped around 3am, DD went downstairs to try to sleep as she's working today and OH had to get up at 5am for work.

It set off next doors dogs who frequently bark through the night anyway. So not a good night.

They've got a shed in the garden that the Father built for a sound system so any sunny summer day will be spoilt by their loud music. I've often wished for bad things to happen to that shed.

Last night was a last straw for OH especially when he saw DD trying to get some sleep, so on his way to work he knocked the house awake at 5.30am and made them explain why they thought it was ok to disturb all their neighbours. They didn't look very well apparently.

I felt especially bad for a young family that moved in recently who's garden backs onto theirs. They must wonder if they've made a terrible mistake. We generally keep our heads down & avoid any conflicts but I'm glad my husband did that.

My family had a similar problem not so long ago similar to this. Next door would constantly play very loud music and still do sometimes and one night they did so until 5 am although we had complained. We did phone the police and told them we would again if it happened again. I don't known how people think it's right to play music that loud in a semi detached house and it doesn't help that an old lady lived next door for 10 years so all the noise was a bit of a shock for us! Hope it gets sorted out.

Huge sympathies - we have somepeople near us who feel its fine to leave their dogs outside all day and night to bark atthe slightest sound and others who have regular parties with loud thumpy music. The loudthumpy music people also manage to waft VERY dodgy smelling smoke over the fence and STILL the Police are not interested.

Don't mean to sound 's"Ooops, word censored!"by' but we live in a small rural village not an inner city estate so I guess this behaviour is endemic!

I am really NOT adverse to people having fun but there is something to be said for consideration for others!

PS Sorry am having probs with thespace bar!!!!!!

:D

Well done! Whenever I can hear other people’s music late into the night I have the urge to return the "favour" and wake them up very earlier in the morning. Thankfully it's not a regular occurrence, so I accept that I'm the one being unreasonable  If it happened regularly though....

For those of you who have trouble with inconsiderate (immediate) neighbours you could try what my brother's father in law did: Put a disk of brass band music on, on a loop, on high volume against their wall, then go out for the day. He had no more problems after that. :D

I'm not sure it would work if they were a few doors away though :(

My OH did this with Postman Pat  the (lovely) neighbours had gone away, and their son was "home alone" all night, with loud music  amazingly...it never happened again.

The neighbour would have gone bonkers if she had known about the son

Use the same law as people do with Cockerel noise. report it to EH at your local council.

They have to act. They can seize equipment if they ignore an abatement notice.

They can't seize cockerels if they are noisy, how good is that.

The power is now with the Environment Agency, which in effect is the EH Officer at your local council

Don't even think about the Police, the Environment Agency have more powers in this field.

Good on OH Patsylabrador  You're well within your rights to complain if the noise is very loud and between 11pm and 7am.

We had similar problems in Saturday night - well early hours of Sunday morning - a house up the road is a multi-occupancy let with Polish lads sharing it, they are usually pretty respectful and friendly but I was woken up at 2am on Sunday by a loud argument in the street right outside my house; after a while I got up and asked them to move off and keep the noise down. They did go back in the house but the party continued indoors and in their back garden all through the rest of the night and was still going at 7am when I went out to let the chickens out.

I got my revenge though... as I left to walk the dogs around 7.30am, three of them (still very drunk) left and got into a car, driving off.... I called the police and reported it in; I can't abide drink drivers, one killed my cousin many years ago.

A few years ago, hubby and I used to live in a mid terraced house. One night, our next door neighbours had a really loud party - thumpy music and loud bass vibrating thnrough the wall for hours on end until the wee small hours. We could see and hear people in the garden, acting very hyped up and talking at 110mph, so no doubt taking dubious substances as well which put us off going round and banging on the door.

Unfortunately, there was to be no noisy revenge as he was up mowing his lawn at about 7.30am the next morning  (which was well before we were awake I might add!)
