The truth about getting older

Recommended Posts

Ahhh, but its the IMPLICATIONS of crimplene - almost the same as candle wick! (I used to have a candlewick bedspread and loved picking the tufts out of it until Mother shouted at me! - by which time it was virtually bare but I found it very therapeutic! :wall::lol: )

I had a candlewick bedspread too :D

I do things that remind me of my late Mum too, like checking the doors are locked more than once

No crimplene here yet - still denim however I have the grumpy old lady mentality today as I am cross with a work colleague. Candlewick - yes remember it well and nylon sheets - YUCK :vom: I was static for hours after getting up due to those sheets my mum loved so much. You could have run a lamp from me. Poor fred missed out on a treat with crimplene

I had Crimplene outfits as a child - some of the dresses were a-line and would stand up on their own if you balanced them just right.

I well remember turquoise Crimplene trouser suit my grandma made me - flared trousers with triangle inserts in the seams, and a jacket with long collars and an embroidered strawberry patch on the top pocket.... 8)

Brentford Nylons! My mother loved nylon so much she bought shares in the company.

Nylon, she believed, liberated us all from the tyranny of cotton - drying it, ironing it etc etc. I had slidey nylon nighties on slidey nylon sheets; and then an 'oh so modern' brushed nylon duvet cover. My dad wore the latest new-fangled 'drip dry' nylon shirts. My mother wore a range of nylon dresses.

Crimplene was for 'old ladies' - my nan had a range of crimplene suits and and 'frocks'.

I am left with an abiding loathing for all things nylon

Oh my days.....Jackie magazine  .....and corkscrew perms....and massive Relax tshirts with leggings or drainpipe jeans and pixie boots....or was that just me

Yup, nylon sheets.....and nighties....and the most awful red flared trouser suit.....and the associated static shocks :?

The wiggly stuff stitched onto everything was ricrac http://www.craftyribbons.com/shop_ric_rac-76.aspx...sorry don't know how to do whizzy links...mum made lots of our clothes...ricrac and bias binding were everywhere....and outfits to perfectly match my little sister! I was later told this was so she never had to wear my handmedowns...right :eh:

Jackie magazine - ah we were so sweet :liar:

As for nylon I so lurved my pink nylon nightie that had a sort of under shift part and then a transparent over part with little pink embroidered flowers around the neckline. I even had a dressing gown to match and used to play about 'wafting' up and down stairs
