Glandular Fever

Recommended Posts

I can sympathise Sarah!! I've got Ollie here after he was sent home yesterday with a grumbling appendix! Hopefully he'll go back to school tomorrow if he's pain free but I'll be waiting for the phone to ring to say he's ill again, can he come home? They won't operate until it's acute  ! We had a year and a half of this worry with Tom until his reached the emergency stage last year  .

Sick children - aaaargh  !!

Tom's got really bad and we had to rush him to hospital and all along they'd said keep an eye on it  ! You can guarantee Ollie's will become acute when LSH is abroad, can't you! He's got a couple of European trips planned within the next couple of months.

I shall be watching him like a hawk and will worry myself stupid when he's at school or on day trips in case that day is the day!

Oh poor Ollie!

Mine started misbehaving when I was about 17. It sorted itself out and I've never had any problems since.

I was a saturday girl at C&A at the time, working with my Mum, and she wouldn't let me take the day off because she thought I was putting it on

It was quite painful too :(

(No worries about the weekend Kate if it's too difficult for you)

Good news - Cleo has been given the all clear from Glandular Fever :P

But, whatever this virus was it has really knocked her for 6, the poor little thing.

She has had nearly 2 weeks off now, & is still pale, shivery & has a sore tummy.

The Doctor says its just the tail end of a virus (5 others in her class have had it too), but I am a bit concerned about her.

Any top tips for building up a usually robust 10 year old after a bad illness?

Hi *Sarah*

When my son was ill last year and couldn't shake it off I bought a bottle of Floradix - it's a herbal/mineral natural tonic that really gave him a boost. I bought it in our local chemist who sell a lot of natural and organic products.

It's not cheap - I think about £7 a bottle, but it really did the trick.

You can also give Cleo's immune system a boost using essential oils - Tea Tree, Bergamot and Lavender are some of the most effective. Use diluted in a bath or in a burner.

Children do bounce back quickly - I'm sure she'll be fighting fit again soon.
