Luvachicken
I don't know whether to add some frizzles to my girls or not. Firstly, would they get on with my pekins ? And how noisy are they - my girls are already noisy so I wouldn't want to add to the mix. Are they any good at egg laying or are they just as broody as pekins ? If they came from somewhere where they had free range would they mind being shut in a run ? I'm just wondering of course but don't tell hubby
daxigirl
What about frizzled Pekins, I've got a wee blue one that I hatched and kept , we weren't sure what colour she'd come out from her parentage.
Luvachicken
Frizzled pekins, now that's an interesting idea
Chickabee
My pekin frizzle is adorable. She doesn't make much noise and gets on very well with my silkies. I've just moved her from my LF run as one of my araucanas pecked loads of her feathers out. She also got well with my welsummer, who is huge in comparison . I made a special trip back to the farm to get her after I fell in love with her. At first they told me she was reserved , but they phoned back shortly after to say she was available. I couldn't get there quick enough. She lays lovely eggs, but isn't prolific. Not gone broody yet, but she's still quite young Oh and she is allowed to free range but doesn't go very far away from her coop, so I think yours will be fine kept in a run Sonya
Chickabee
Dazzle the pekin frizzle with my silkies, before her feathers got pulled out

Redwing
Pure breed Frizzles are quite dinky birds, a bit taller than a Pekin but not much difference in body size. they are quite docile and easy going birds, less broody than Pekins (but not a lot less) less feisty than Pekins and an all round joy to own The frizzle feathered gene has crept in to other breeds though including Pekins so they are an option and realistically will probably be easier to source
Chortle Chook
Out of my four Frizzles I have one little grey one who goes broody for quite some time once a year, but the other 3 don't at all. They are lively, happy little madams who are always first to any treats. I'm not sure really who from my flock is laying what but from my 4 Frizzles and 3 Polands I'm getting about 3 eggs a day (plus a cream one about once every two days from the 2 Silkies) - so I don't think they are gret layers. I mean if you wanted eggs I don't think frizzles is what you'd go for. None of my Frizzles are noisy but then any bird in my chook house making so much as a squawk would get out-shouted by my white Silkie who can out noise even my cockerel They are more active than my Silkies but can't fly as the frizzling on their wing feathers mean that the wings don't make a proper joined up fan so they don't need high fencing. Having breifly kept Pekins I'd say they are certainly a bit bigger as are their eggs and are possibly a bit less feisty though they are certainly more feisty than Silkies or Polands. They seem healthy / hardy little things.
