Chickabee
Went to check on my 2 little girls who were sitting on 5 eggs (day 22). My beautiful partridge silkie was dead and my pekin frizzle was sitting over her bokking. She'd left her eggs . There was nothing wrong with the silkie she had meat on her bones. She was still eating and pooing. Needless to say me and my little pekin are very upset
Beantree
Very sorry to hear that Chickabee. I expect you are both very upset. Was it the heat I wonder, because someone else has reported a broody dying from heatstroke? Have you managed to get the eggs into an incubator? Chickabee
The eggs were cold. I was just about to throw them when I heard one chirping. I've managed to get the pekin to sit back on them. Fingers crossed

Luvachicken
I lost one in a big thunderstorm last year. I think she died from shock. I'm very sorry you lost one too in similar conditions. Some of the thunderclaps were extremely loud the last couple of days and I often wonder what our poor animals think it is. I hope your other girlie manages to hatch the eggs for you. Sending you a hug xxx

PixieDust
I have had 2 sleepless nights because my dog is both scared but excited by storms. He sits squeaking but loves to watch them out of the window. He is the first scared dog I have had. I had him from a young pup, (9 weeks), but he has a damaged nerve to one eye meaning he has almost no tears in one eye. He sees ok and we give him artificial tears but he is just jumpy sometimes. Also his first summer we had no thunderstorms and early exposure is vital. So sorry to hear of your poor silkie. I was wondering last night if chickens coped with storms. sparkysmum
Oh Chickabee, I do hope this sad little story has a happy ending. I 'm sure your wee pekin is missing your silkie but fingers crossed she manages to hatch the chicks. What a lovely ending that would be.
