Luvachicken
I am just enjoying the start of the Summer holidays, lets face it most schools have only finished just over a week ago. I am used to seeing back to school adverts as soon as the holidays start, but I was really shocked when I popped into town today and saw Christmas cards for sale in one rack in the local Clintons. I really couldn't believe it. Does anyone really by Christmas cards now ? It's only the beginning of August for goodness sake Why can't shops leave things until nearer the time instead of rushing us all the time ? Luvachicken
Time to get the sprouts on. Do they really need as long as that No wonder they don't taste good if they are cooked on the day
bluekarin
Nooooo! Far, far, far to early! Plus, we aren't even doing Christmas as such this year as YD and I are off on Boxing Day to Chicago for my brothers wedding and can't afford to do both. Will buy the other two who aren't coming something though, otherwise I will feel even more guilty.
patsylabrador
I love seeing Christmassy stuff at any time but it does seem odd to have them on sale now. I tell you what I haven't noticed and that is BACK TO SCHOOL posters everywhere. They usually are obvious right at the beginning of the holidays and I feel sorry for the kids. I think the back to school ones have been and gone, they were up before we had broken up and we break up the week before the Lincolnshire schools. Christmas, it is too early but I must confess I bought two C presents as they were on the book stall at school before the holidays at too good to miss prices Chrissie
Bramble
Funny you should mention this, I popped into our local Co-op for milk yesterday and noticed what I thought was a small display of Christmas chocolates ... I thought to myself no, it can't be and moved on without looking further, but perhaps I was wrong and they were Christmas chocs
Guest
I do buy gifts throughout the year to spread the cost and also because I go to lots of craft fairs and such so grab it while I can but I draw the line at cards and such until at least November. I guess it will be the supermarket Christmas food tv adverts soon
Cat tails
I actually already started on my Christmas crocheting... But only because I know, I won't have time just before Christmas. Here we won't have Christmas cards/chocolates untill November. But you can already buy the Sinterklaas candy. Which is the 5th of December. soapdragon
Ummmmm, I have all my cards already (bought them about four months ago) and all the wrapping paper. However, I am leaving the turkey until nearer the time.
Charlottechicken
I don't mind buying Christmas cards and wrapping paper in the sales straight after Christmas, but it is waaaay too early yet! As for those back to school posters, I remember Woolworths always put those up a week after we had broken up for our summer holidays so not much has changed there! Luvachicken
I admit to making something Christmassy over the holidays, as Cat Tails said there is not enough time later, and I have bought a couple of things - but only because I have learnt from not getting things when I see them and then they are not there when I go to get them later - but I don't think shops should force stuff on us so early. Winter goes on long enough as it is without it starting in August
Cinnamon
The warehouse at work is already looking festive. I love it
