MaryHen
Hi everyone I have had my 3 chucks for 2weeks (still no blinking eggs) and love them very much....they are my pets. Anyway, I was hoping that they may become tamer and not mind being picked up. I pick them up everyday, after feeding them there mealworms treat when I get home from work. They wriggle to get free and aren't very calm. Has anyone got any suggestions to try and train them that picking up cuddles is good? Thanks Maryhen
mollyripkim
Bribes are always good but also they tend to be calmer once they have settled to bed at night, that's when I usually get them out to give them a check over. Also they get calmer when they come into lay and may even crouch for you.
gavclojak
My girls crouch for me but Although they accept me picking them Up and giving them a stroke, they would rather i didn't !!
Cat tails
I think you shouldn't confuse a chicken with something like a cat or a dog. There will always be a few that will become very tame and friendly, but those things take time. It took my ladies at least a month before they ate confidently from my hand. Sentiant
as they get more comforatble eating from your hand do they calm there peck down as my Sussex has a vicious Peck on her!
mullethunter
Penny seems to be getting worse actually! She'll eat from my hand but she's cross and growly about it! Funny but actually hurts quite a lot when she gets skin instead of corn or finger instead of mealworm!
MaryHen
Well they don't mind eating from my hand at all; in fact can be quite viscous when mealworms are involved!! They also happily scratch and forage around my feet when I sit with them, not getting scared about me being around. I'll keep persevering!!
