Job interview, wish me luck

Recommended Posts

I've finally got feedback. I phoned today. I don't know what to do about it though. I'm quiet, not particularly confident, and anxious, that's just me. I don't see how I can work on that, I spent a day preparing questions.

"When we interview someone we are looking for two sets of skills - one

the technical knowledge to write quality material, and second the

ability to be a strong member of the account team.

Sarah had great technical knowledge but unfortunately it was second

point that it was felt she was weak on. We sometimes have to work with

difficult clients and authors, and need to try to get them to meet

difficult deadlines - this takes tact, diplomacy and the ability to

effectively engage with them to gain their respect and confidence. We

did try to allow Sarah time to relax and to feel able to show us her

personality, and, for want of a better word, sell herself to us."

:? Don't dwell on it too much Choccy. The latter part of the interveiw will come to you with confidence. I am the total opposite of you, and am not shy of social contact with so called clients and Authors. The problem is some want their ego to be massaged and others just think they are plain "god" - thankfully these are a minority. However, part of the job is to liase with these peeps, and accounts and investments are at stake, especially if with a drug company, so they need a certain person to be able to carry out more than just production of media.

Keep going - the right post will come, as I said to you before - sometimes they prefer a more quiet analytical person on the team, as they have enough client interfaces  . Would it help to get some sort of "confidence" training, or interveiw tests ( mock interveiws, just to get you used to meeting strangers in a job roleplay ) - at the end of the day, if you are not comfortable with the selling/client interface aspect, should you try to force this into your personality :?: .

I had an interview for a temp job and got it

She was really nice and had a dog in her office and following us round, so I told her about my chickens  and she said she used to live on a farm.

Admin at secure children's unit :? but new bullding in nice surroundings, with training and people around to help (remember that reception job some of you  ). No contact with teenagers except the occasional hi as they pass supervised, and they seemed like normal teenagers when we went we went round and came over to stroke the dog.

Going well. Yesterday was

Dealing with lots of people and trying to work out who they are and what they want, and if it is safe to let them in the building or give them information. Getting better with the fact you can't walk around the building without passing through at least 2 locked doors which you have to open with a key buried in the middle of about 10 others. Apparently it is very good building in a fire. I'm learning about some "interesting" people too and how the centre tries to rehabilitate them. I so admire the people that work with the kids :clap:

A bit late catching up on this one but Brilliant news Choccy

The confidence thing comes with time and I hate interviews so much, so not looking forward to the next few weeks (not that I've applied for much at the moment)

Hope you settle in at this centre, and hey- they have a dog! I used to take Molly to work at Gloucester branch on a Saturday as it was usually very quiet and the customers loved to make a fuss - she wasn't complaining much either

Well done :D

A

xx
