Eggasperated
My daughter has returned safely from her trip to China, including her 'plank walk' that I posted about on here a while ago. She lives in London and I am in Scotland and I am not seeing her for a while, however she tells me all her photos are on Facebook. Well I don't use facebook and am loath to do so, is there anyway I can join it in a very limited way just to view her photos? Hoping someone here can point me in the right direction . mollyripkim
Not entirely sure but if you join you can set your privacy settings to private and only add her as a friend. Or could she upload them to something like Photobucket so you can view them?
patsylabrador
I recently joined because there is a private group I wanted to be part of. There is a variety of options from public to private so it looked like you could join and then invite only her to follow. I kept mine public because I figured I'm so boring that "Ooops, word censored!"ody would care - I was right. I can't believe your daughter actually did that plank walk. It looked truly terrifying. Hope she had a fantastic time. Enjoy the pictures.
Charlottechicken
I have recently joined Facebook, against my better judgement, and am now in touch with family members around the world. My settings are all private so only those who are my friends can see what I post on there. I would recommend you sign up to facecrooks page if you join. I have even hidden my friends from each other, although most of them are family, and when you post you can block certain friends from seeing things if you want. Not sure how those who have hundreds of friends get on.
Ain't Nobody Here
I have put people into groups - work, family, local, people I actually know in real life! - so if something is only of interest to one group, I post just for that group. I set up FB with the max privacy settings for my mother-in-law so she could see our photos. She doesn't bother with it now, but it did work. Eggasperated
Thanks everyone I shall look at Facebook with a bit more confidence now. patsylabrador I can't believe she did it either! She has also come back to her vet nursing exam results and she has passed with flying colours - I am really proud of her (even if she did scare me with the plank walk ). Charlottechicken
Are you sure you want to see the photos though?
Chucky Mama
If it is just to view her photos and she doesn't mind you seeing her messages etc, you could just borrow her log in. I did this with my MIL who didn't want to join but wanted to see something.
Eggasperated
Are you sure you want to see the photos though? Well I created an account and looked at her photos and her friends who went with her, they make my stomach turnover just looking at them, I can't believe she did it . Chortle Chook
I think people are often scared of Facebook when they needn't be. It really has go a lot better regarding privacy settings and if you belong there are lots of interest groups you can be part of which you can't access otherwise. It has become a sort of internet within the internet. I know people say 'I'm not interested in what x has for breakfast' but I've found that it is only people who have never used Facebook who say that. Once you have registered there is a little padlock symbol on the top far right which you can click on (even if it appears greyed out) to call up, check and alter, who can see what, who can contact you and how to keep things as private as you want. For your 'avatar' there is no need to have a picture of you. Lots of people have a photo of their pets.
