bluekarin Posted January 5, 2015 Share Posted January 5, 2015 My dad phoned up this morning, I thought to say hi and were back from Chicago. Which he did, but also to tell me that my cousin is in intensive care fighting for his life! Apparently he did something to an artery in his neck a week ago, and as a result has had several strokes due the the blood clots. He is a few months younger than me, just 42, and has 2 young kids. It is just such unexpected news and I really do hope he pulls through. But his mum, my dad's sister, says it's touch and go I am not hugely close to him now, but as kids we were, and were very competitive about our heights as to who was the taller. It would change by a cm each time with either me being taller or him. My aunt didn't want to say anything via Facebook while we were away, as she didn't want to ruin our trip. bluekarin Posted January 13, 2015 Author Share Posted January 13, 2015 We had a good update this week. He is out of intensive care but having to have full bed rest for a week to stop any more TIAs. His speech is a bit odd and he is very tired, but it is sounding much more positive. He is on a ward for stroke sufferers, which by the sounds of things is full of elderly people, so not a great place to be at 42 I would imagine.
