Warm boot recommendations please

i am currently building a big 100% recycled run (made the sides yesterday before we had a big thunderstorm - typical so hopefully will finish it today)

i was going to put the eglus on a platform in the run.

i am now considering buying a cube. omlet says it can hold 10 birds, from your experience as cube owners how many do you think it will hold? do you think i should wait until the rush is over and they have corrected any faults?

i could sell two eglus buy a cube without the run and still have some money left over for more chooks .

and i will not have to store the eglu runs as i dont want to sell them as it will devalue the eglus if i ever sell them.

i quite fancy an orange cube.............

Hmmm - my 3 all sleep in the nesting box of the cube comfortably. SO the roosting bars are empty. I reckon another 5 large fowl could sleep in the cube comfortably. SO I'd say you could fit in 8 large fowl, without them being huddled up.

I've got 6 large girls in my cube and I reckon it would easily hold 5 more. They all cuddle up so close at night. As long as you have roaming room for loads you'll be ok!

I have got six in a cube and there is plenty of room for more, although you may be right about, "waiting for the rush to finish" I waited ten weeks for my cube and when it did arrive it had quite a few parts missing, that been said I am very pleased with the cube and the hens seem to love it as well

When i look through the egg port at night there is always over half the room left and my girlies are a bit on the large side. They either sleep in a pyramid or all huddled up.

I have 9 in the cube (10 if I go out and lift Sandy in ) and theres still room for a couple more.

i have had the computer off most of the day as i have been making up the front and back pannels of my run in the rain .

it will be fairly big just over 3m wide by almost 3m long and is 2m high at its lowest so i can have several levels. so far it has been all recycled stuff that would have gone in the skip or been burnt on the bonfire. it had been hard as i have been trying to make it with odd bits of wood and mesh. i keep thinking to myself it would have been easier to buy it from B&Q and the sheets of mesh would have been bigger and easier to fit but would have cost alot, so far the run has not cost me a penny and i love a challenge!! hubbie is hoping that it doesnt look too bad, but i have loads of potted plants to cover up any wonky workmanship.

 

i have been debating the cube issue in the rain today.

i might wait for the rush to die down and for all the niggles to be tweeked.

 

i have a platform for the eglus and i will have to find somewhere to stash the runs without them getting damaged. i might put the little girls eglu complete with run in the new super run so they get used to the older girlies.

i just have to resist the temptation of the cube.....i do love the eglu shape though...ummmmm....what to do?

I love the eglu shape but I lurv my cube!

 

I think its far easier to look after and clean than the eglu.

 

...but as you already have a fair collection of eglus I'd wait untill all the cube niggles are sorted. I'm really happy with my cube but many people seem to have things that could be better.
