AndyRoo
Hello all, My partner and I are thinking of taking the kids (niece/nephew, family holiday) to EuroDisney or Europa-Park in Germany but we're not sure at what age would be the best age for them to go? At the moment Sophie is 6, turning 7 shortly and James is turning 4 in December. We need to time it so that James can appreciate it, but not before Sophie starts to find to too childish... Any suggestions? Cheers
Cat tails
I went when I was nine and loved it! Although up to 10/11 would be fine for a kid I guess. There are lots of rides that are "cool" so even if he doesn't want to cuddle Winnie the Pooh, he will still enjoy himself. 8 and up is about the age you really start to remember stuff I think, so personally wouldn't go before that. Also you need them to be able to run around all day without getting overly tired.

We don't have to worry about them running out of energy - we usually tire before they do.
soapdragon
I'd def give it at least another 2 or even 3 years.....my boy's don't really remember anything much before age 5 so you'll have another few years to build up YOUR energy reserves!!!! What abut Centre Parcs in the UK for a few days in the interim?
Alis girls
Might be height restrictions too for some rides so to avoid disappointment might be better to wait till you are all a little bigger. My two were definitely at primary school but not super little. Have fun.
Grandmashazzie
We were there two weeks ago, youngest 5. He was there last year and loved it. Biggest thing is height. Need to be around 105 cms for better rides. You can check online. Biggest problem is queues . Aim to go midweek, out of school holidays if possible Two parks easily done in two days if quiet time and if you stay onsite can get in hour before riff raff.Davey Crockett camp is good, nice pool etc if travelling by car. AndyRoo
Yes, I'd considered the height thing. I was also considering going to Europa Park in Germany instead - they can spend a couple of days at the theme park and then do some day trips out to a few other places so they get some culture too! Cat tails
Movie Park in Germany is quite cool too. A bit like a small version of Disneyland. They have a special young kids area too with things and rides especially for them.
AndyRoo
Oooh, I'll have a look - thanks. I think we're going to try and do it in the next year or so. We wanted to take them to a few places so we kind of need to do it before Brexit throws our right to move freely in to chaos!
Willow
They are a good age to take to legoland in Windsor. Like all these parks if you can go off peak, school inset day maybe, it's much less busy. Don't go school summer holiday, weekends after schools go back in September weren't bad when mine were little.
Cat tails
Christmas day in Disneyland was bliss! No lines anywhere! Went in the Space Mountain on our own and like 4 times in a row.
AndyRoo
I was tempted to ask their parents if they'd be prepared to see if the school would let them take a week off in term time. Because of what my partner does it's sometimes the case that he can only take time off outside of school holidays because people in his team are off looking after their kids. We were talking about it last night and I think we'll probably look at doing it next year as it seems our most safe option in knowing the costs and still having free movement.
