Guest
We collected our new girls this evening from the most wonderful place near Leatherhead. We came home with a Bluebelle called Lieblich a Speckledy called Mixture a Sussex Hybrid called Vox and an Amber Star called Piccolo They are absolutely gorgeous and we are all thrilled to bits. Can't wait for the morning! Edited September 14, 2007 by Guest

Ain't Nobody Here
What beautiful hens - I thought mine were pretty but yours are lovely! (Sorry to my girlies - I love you really!) Welcome to the forum. I've only had my three for 5 1/2 days so am very new but have learnt so much from everyone on here.
The Pearsons
Lovely girlies. My DH says we could do with a couple more hens and I fancy a Bluebelle and maybe a brown hen of some type. Helen in Hume
Guest
Thank you all! They are so lovely. My older 3 were really upset and very frightened. At one point they hid under the rose bush with their faces against the wall. They didn't stop shouting and were too frightened to venture across the run to their own blue eglu. The new girls also had trouble getting to bed. Vox was brilliant and just went in, Lieblich kept going in and out and couldn't settle, Piccolo got quite upset and seemed to be mewing and poor Mixture clearly wanted to jump UP to roost. I put her in the eglu through the eggport but she just came out of the front again. In the end I shut the eglu door with the first two hens inside and fed the other two frightened girls through the eggport. The mewing continued but I hope they're all asleep now! Sorry about the pictures. I tried to resize them but that was clearly a mistake since photobucket doesn't seem to change its mind too easily! I have spent hours trying to get these pictures here - so I'm really you like the girls!

Guest
Hi all! I am not Australian. That was my extremely poor attempt to mimic Rolf Harris! (Do you know what it is yet?) Wurlitzer is very close. The names are all from Church Organ stops (pipe organs). We have a Vox Angelica but DD3 just liked Vox. Also a Lieblich Gedeckt shortened to Lieblich. The best bit is that there are over a thousand organ stop names, so we can go on for ever! Choosing these four was such an exciting experience. I really didn't expect it to be but it was and I've got the bug! We're tempted to go back today and get a Skyline as well! Our three were shouting again at 6:30am. They are really very unnerved and I wasn't prepared for that either. They have been out in the garden all morning in order to give them some happy feelings! The other 4 have ventured out of the Omlet run for the first time. They are quite nervous too but OK when we hold them. They have already jumped up onto the Omlet run and over the Omlet fencing into the other half of our big run! Fun times ahead methinks! I do run a choir - with 13 juniors, 7 young adults and 8 proper adults. It's amazing how much we pick up about each other isn't it? We have a church orchestra too and I'm also an examiner for the RSCM. Gosh, I want MORE chickens!
Rhapsody
Just out of interest (honestly!) where did you get your gorgeous new girls from?
Guest
Southmead, in Fetcham www.southmead.dsl.pipex.com The lady there started out with two chickens and now breeds and sells them as well as ducks. I am so impressed with it and she says most of her customers are from recommendations. Her garden is immaculate with carefully laid out pens and at the end there are several 'sheds' for the chickens which were also immaculate. The yard they faced onto was equally clean and well swept. The chickens which she brought out after we had selected them all seemed very happy to be held and stroked and are in beautiful condition. I would certainly recommend this lady to anyone and everyone. I can't wait to go back!

We did discuss this on another thread I reckon- and you did actually go for mixture, I didn't think you would. You've obviously pulled out all the stops to name your chickens (groan groan)
