Cate in NZ
I'm not sure that I can even work out where to get started on this one, especially since I've just read the entire thread and thought "yes", "yes", "Oh, and that one too", and "oops, nearly forgot that one" to all your great suggestions. I'll think about it for a day or 2 and come back when I can get it down to a reasonable number

Richard
Nothing compares 2 U - Sinead o'Connor yep - I didn't put that in my list, but I'd agree that it's pretty special, especially if it was the live recording. terrific.
SueSteve
I think this is impossible, there are soooo many. For the past week I have been listening to 1) AFI 2) Lord of the Rings soundtrack last week was the Horror pops and Rosetta stone! I do tend to do that, play something til I get little fed up! Richard
Anybody listened to 'all the lost souls'? Yes, I know it's sad listening to it, and I wouldn't want to admit it in public, but it is admissable between consenting adults in private ...... yes I have to admit to being, ever so slightly, when I'm in the right mood ..... willing to listen to james blunt. there, I've said it. I really can't believe that I've admitted to something like that on a forum that is actually read by other people. I will go away and hide in shame. I think you can get treatment for it .... please can you? I'll try anything, really. I'm going to listen to some Lamb and some Gorillaz, and take a dose of Sams Town to get over it. Richard
I've just listened to all the lost souls and decided that it was all a terrible mistake. its disasterous mind you, the Knopfler album kill to get crimson is WORSE I don't know what the world is coming to. I want to buy an album! Drastic Fantastic is awful, crystal visions is terrible - why they call it the 'best of Stevie Nicks' I don't know, it sounds like the 'worst of' to me. I've even listened to Newton faulkner cos a friend saw him when they went to see Beth Orton (gaze in wonderment) with Bert Jansch (fall down in awe) and said he was good. But I don't like the album. think I'll go back and listen to some old pentangle stuff now, and some Renbourne stuff - remind myself that there is good material out there, even tho it is geriatric and vintage! Richard
my claim to fame I have exchanged a few emails with John Renbourne. wow. I'm impressed. Please don't tell him I called it geriatric! My only musical claim to fame is that many many years ago (around 1970 ish) when I was playing folk stuff, I was on the same bill as Mike Harding - in those days he was a cutting edge folkie rather than an eccentric Lancashire presenter/comedian. He asked her indoors for a lift home - she drove (I didn't) and had her Mum's mini traveller. She turned him down - what a mistake!
susiepoos
Another difficult one!!!!!! Clip was fab! There's nothing better than a bit of James Blunt for us sensitive, meloncholy types is there! He hits the spot when you're in that quiet, thoughtful mood. Richard
Richard, don't worry, there's a new Eagles album out soon for us oldies Shows what money can do! Don Henley said, when they split, that they would reform 'When Hell freezes over' so when they wanted some dosh, they reformed and called the album 'when hell freezes over'! Mind you, it was a nice version of Hotel California.

Richard, surely there must be a bit of room for some Travelling Willbury's or a couple of Neil Young in your varied collection? I couldn't pick one of his Harvest Moon album...although....mmmmmm...... if I was pushed it would be Unknown Legend.....no no...it would be 'one of these days' Brilliant track Edited September 26, 2007 by Guest
