Ikea

Recommended Posts

I went to Ikea yesterday. Whenever I visit Ikea I always know exactly what I want to buy and reckon I will be in and out in an hour  but I seem to go into a trance when I'm in there and end up 3 and half hours later with tons of things that I don't really need but just had to have :) Anyway I bought this really cool metal bin with a lid, perfect size for 20kg of layers pellets, its called a 'KNODD' only £10.50. they don't give throwaway carrier bags any more :clap: if you need a bag you have to buy one of their big 'blue' bags, luckily all my stuff fitted into my bin :) they also do a veggie hotdog in their quick cafe, this may not be a new thing but it's ages since I was last in Ikea.

I am desperate for some pretty botles for my Sloe Gin & I know they sell them there really cheaply, but its just so far.....................

I had something yummy in the cafe last time I went too, can't remeber what but it was a traditional Swedish thing 8)

Sounds really good :D

I daren't go to Ikea......the Warrington one near me is huge.

When we were in Spain last month we flew to Malaga airport, & when we were on a coach to Marbella we saw a new Ikea that was opening the following Wednesday. You should have seen the number of cars in the car park on our return journey

They have started doing mail order but only on really big items not bottles  I wish they would do mail order for all their products, I guess they make so much money from people impulse buying, like me

they will never do it.

We're equidistant from Wembley, Milton Keynes and Birmingham stores. I love it, but try not to go because I spend too much

I use the Wembley one, it's about an hours drive, so I go very rarely :( I don't have the shopping gene, I hate shopping malls :evil: in fact I'm not keen on any shopping, but something seems to happen to me in Ikea  same thing that happens to me in garden centres :oops:

Jules, we use the warrington one too- the dime bar cake in the restaurant is to die for and i love the free tea/coffee refill system ;)

I love their storage jars, I use them for my bread flour, rice and pulses, they look lovely on display too. I need some more for pasta though so will have to go back soon, what a shame! ;)

They're opening the Coventry one on December 16th. Iy's practically at the bottom of my road, can easily walk there.

However as much as I love it I think it's going to cause total chaos for Coventry. The parking isn't sufficient and the ring road and surrounding roads are going to be horrendous at peak times.

Having said all that it'll be ideal for mooching and lunch. Meatballs...mmmmmm

Dime cake...mmmmmm

Oh, I LOVE Ikea. I'm in the middle of fitting a new kitchen (don't worry, I've been taking photos as I went along so I can post a photo diary for the nosy amongst you  ) and pretty much everything came from Ikea. I feel like I've lived there for the last couple of weeks. It's the Adel white if anyone's interested. Favouritest bit - my pull out ironing board that hides behind a drawer front. We can go to either Lakeside or Edmonton, but if I'm worried about spending too much money, I go to edmonton on the bus so I can't carry all that much.

Re the meatballs.

Have you tried Scan Meatballs? Scan is one of the main Swedish meat product companies and they now export their meatballs and they're sold in most main supermarkets - they are often on BOGOFs in Sainsbury and others. They are really yummy. You can freeze them and then just take out however many you want.

They are best baked in the oven and are lovely with pasta or with mashed potato or whatever else you like!

I used to buy them when I lived in Sweden and when they started selling them here I was over the moon.

I will be doing a Swedish meal on Christmas Eve and meatballs will definitely be on the menu!

They are building a new IKEA in Southampton, or so I have heard! I can't wait!!

The nearest to us in Bristol, which is a real trek!

In the old house i used to go to the Wembley store all the time. I love IKEA!!!

I agree with Poet, the storage jars are superb! Just not water tight with those plastic seals, but the original kilner jar seals do the job!!

*goes off into dream world of jars*
