Jingle bells! :-)

Recommended Posts

I'm feeling a bit more Christmassy now after starting my present shopping yesterday (but forgetting to get advent calendars - oops :oops: - need to dash out today).

Tree will go up on last day of term - Wed 19th. DS1 (15 yrs old) said last week "can't wait till we get the tree and all the decorations up" - aww, bless, they never really grow up do they :) .

So ding dong merrily on high for tomorrow. Better get the advent calender out though :D

Happy December! :dance::dance::dance::dance:

I went Christmas Shopping yesterday......first of all I went to the Chatsworth farm shop and bought some fantastic pickle selections as small presents for a couple of friends......then I went to the peak Village retail outlet which is about 10 mins away.....it was deserted! There is a fab candle shop there and they had a huge selection of Yankee Candle Stuff so I treated myself to one of their alarmingly named Tart Burners and some assorted "Christmas" scented tarts ie Frankincense and Myrrh, Hollyberry, Cinnamon Stick, Winterland, Cranberry Chutney, Jack Frost, Royal Frankincense and Christmas Eve. They were 89p each. Online they are at least £1.00

My house will smell so festive. :lol:

OH is not going to know what has hit him when he gets home :lol: What was lovely was that I forgot that I brought chicken decs from Omlet last year, it was like seeing them again for the first time :oops::roll:

with all this talk of Christmas, we've decided to put ours up on the 15th or the 16th. The plan then is to get out the stollen and the mulled wine and stick "It's a Wonderful Life" on the dvd player. I still haven't seen it so am determined to watch it this year :)

um........ decent apple juice from the Farmers' Market, warmed slowly with a cinnamon stick in it :D

We had some yesterday at the stall where we buy our juice from - very warming and great for those of us who don't drink alcohol. The lady suggested using the mulled wine sachets as well - we use those to make mulled cider........ and I manage half a small glass of that....... 8)

Where do you find the time to try out these complicated recipes Lesley?? :wink::wink:

Sounds really nice, will be making that!

:oops: :oops:I thought it was going to be much more complicated than that....with an orange stuck with cloves, carefully measured mixed spices etc!!

It sounds like the kind of recipe I could tackle.

It's a pity it hasn't got an egg in it......otherwise it could have gone in the Omlet Cookbook!!

:lol:

There are a couple of houses in a street near us who seem to compete each year for the amount of outside lights they can put out onto their house & lawn. We always go & have a look & a giggle- I'll get hubby to post a picture on his Flickr page nearer the time so that I can share the delights with you.

We have some star stringy lights from Ikea which we hang in the window. Our house is small too, Kate, & we may have to rearrange the couches & put the smaller one where the bigger one is & vice versa to accommodate the tree- it's just a bit squashed then trying to watch telly on our 2 seater couch. We always have a real tree as my parents always have an artificial one,& i said to myself when I got my own home I would have a real tree. When Alexander was 1 & 2 we had to have a fibre-optic tree which we had safely on the mantelpiece behind the fireguard- it goes in the boy's bedroom now.
