buffie
You should be alert during the next days: > > Do not open any message with an attached file called 'Merry Christmas' > regardless of who sent it, It is a virus that opens as an Open Log Fire > and will burn the whole hard disc in your computer. > > > This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in > his/her contact list, that is why you should send this e-mail to all > your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to > receive the virus and open it. > > If you receive a mail called 'Merry Christmas', though sent by a friend, > do not open it and shut down your computer immediately. This is the > worst virus announced, it has been classified by Microsoft as the most > destructive virus ever. > > This virus was discovered yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this > kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard > Disc, where the vital information is kept > Hope this saves someone a nasty experience BBx >

Guest
don't pass it on, it's a hoax designed to choke the mail system by everyone panicing and mailing off to everyone and their dog http://www.hoax-slayer.com/merry-christmas-virus-hoax.shtml in fact, most similar warning are usually false, use hoax slayer to check before passing it on. These things are designed to cause mass hysteria.
buffie
It's been going around businesses and gone to the top, hence Mikey forwarding it to me. If it's a hoax that is such a pain. When you really do need to be careful we'll ignore a warning. I've emailed Mikey and just shown him the link. BBx
Guest
When you really do need to be careful we'll ignore a warning. I've emailed Mikey and just shown him the link. BBx that's another reason they do it. Always use hoax slayer, that site tells you if it's genuine or not. These parasite play on peoples' insecurities and fear of the net. I saw a hilarious one recently though that sounded genuine to begin with but then got more absurd as it went on and said things like, the virus will flush your toilet while you're on it etc etc It was so funny! If I dcan find it, I'll post it up.
Geoid
Nearly always these emails saying that there is a virus going around and to send the message to 25 people etc are fake. Check on Sysmantec or hoax slayer (sp?) to see if its true or not
Guest
here it is, had me in stitches! Quick! Tell Everyone You Know And Even People You Don't Know If you receive an email entitled "Bedtimes" delete it IMMEDIATELY. Do not open it. Apparently this one is pretty nasty. It will not only erase everything on your hard drive, but it will also delete anything on disks within 20 feet of your computer. It demagnetizes the strips on ALL of your credit cards. It reprograms your ATM access code and screws up the tracking on your VCR and uses subspace field harmonics to scratch any CD's you attempt to play. It will program your phone auto dial to call only 900 numbers. This virus will mix antifreeze into your fish tank. IT WILL CAUSE YOUR TOILET TO FLUSH WHILE YOU ARE SHOWERING. It will drink ALL your beer. FOR GOD'S SAKE, ARE YOU LISTENING?? It will leave dirty underwear on the coffee table when you are expecting company! It will replace your shampoo with Nair and your Nair with Rogaine. If the "Bedtimes" message is opened in a Windows 95/98 environment, it will leave the toilet seat up and leave your hair dryer plugged in dangerously close to a full bathtub. It will not only remove the forbidden tags from your mattresses and pillows, it will also refill your Skim milk with whole milk. ******* WARN AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN. sparkleeeeee
its really good of you to warn us buffie, even if it was a hoax. i rarely open attachments unless i know where it is from. in fact i have a sister who forwards me all kinds of things that i never open just incase it has a virus attached. its good to be warned every now and again to remind us that there are nasty viruses around. they do teach computer students at uni how to create viruses so they know how to get rid of them. unfortunately you always get a silly person trying to put a virus on the uni system, without a thought to the people who have dissertations on the system. when i was at uni i bought my own (rather old and battered) computer so i didnt keep loosing work because they sometimes wiped disks as well.
