Senior moment

I can't believe how I got this wrong, but I have been working towards Christmas thinking it was next Wednesday, DH informed me this afternoon that it is in fact on the Tuesday :shock: Now I feel all stressed out :(

I haven't even posted my cards yet  There is a difference between being laid back about it all and being just plain stupid

I realised yesterday!! I am at work tomorrow for 4 days away overnight and driving to Scotland (yay) on Sunday!

I started wrapping my pressies yesterday and by 4am this morning (when OH left for work) I was still wrapping!:shock::shock:

Went to bed and then got up at 7.30 to let the girls out!

I am really starting to panic now! What happened to the time?? I am normally so organised!

(I originally thought Christmas day was Thursday)!

Don't! I've organised a party for our road for this Friday and I'm in major panic mode. I've got about 23 letters from Santa to write back to the children, presents to wrap for 55 kids, (thanks Dad for helping with the wrapping  ) baubles to string and I haven't wrapped a singe one for the family yet. Heck, I haven't even finished shopping yet! AAAAaaaaaaghhhhhhhhh

I'm usually organised too, but I do virtually everything in the last five days leading up to Christmas day, and now I feel I've got to do it all in four days  I thought the butcher gave me a funny look when I said I would pick the joint of pork up on Tuesday  now he probably thinks I'm just another dotty old biddy :(

Give us a wave as you come over the border, and leave the raised beds behind the garden gate if no-one's in, sweetie....:lol:

 thank goodness I am not the only one who hasn't done all their cards yet (and I've got no excuse because I did know exactly which day it was).

WHY does everyone else I know seem so smugly efficient? they even wrap their stuff up with little bows and fancy bits on ... it's all i can do to get the paper and sellotape together!

I should be in bed now but I am waiting for the last tray of biscuits to come out of the oven, of course I am doing them on the last possible day (for delivery tomorrow) at the last minute! Will I ever learn?

I made some biscuits yesterday - I have a new biscuit maker, so I tried it out.

It didn't make as many biscuits from the mix as my old one would have done  - I put it to one side to clean later.........

When I went to clean it, it was still half full of biscuit mix :roll:

....... so I turned on the oven again (how wasteful :? ) and piped the mix onto a baking sheet............ and popped in here to have a quick look at the forum before we went out.

While Carl was trying to get us both out of the door and turning lights off etc. he said "the oven's still on - shall I turn it off?"

Oooops!!! - while I was sitting here laughing at other's senior moments.... i should have been cooking the last biscuits  they only take 10 mins  and the oven had been on for half an hour

This thread reminds me of this piece which was posted recently.

AAADD- KNOW THE SYMPTOMS.....PLEASE READ!

Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder.

Somehow I feel better, even though I have it!!

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. -

Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden.

As I turn on the hose in the driveway,

I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage,

I notice mail on the porch table that

I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table,

put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,

and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back

on the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think,

since I'm going to be near the mailbox

when I take out the garbage anyway,

I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table,

and see that there is only one check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study,

so I go inside the house to my desk where

I find the can of Coke I'd been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks,

but first I need to push the Coke aside

so that I don't accidentally knock it over.

The Coke is getting warm,

and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.

As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke,

a vase of flowers on the counter

catches my eye--they need water.

I put the Coke on the counter and

discover my reading glasses that

I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk,

but first I'm going to water the flowers.

I set the glasses back down on the counter,

fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.

Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,

I'll be looking for the remote,

but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table,

so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,

but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers,

but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back on the table,

get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to

remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:

the car isn't washed

the bills aren't paid

there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter

the flowers don't have enough water,

there is still only 1 check in my check book,

I can't find the remote,

I can't find my glasses,

and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,

I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all damn day,

and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem,

and I'll try to get some help for it,

but first I'll check my e-mail....

Do me a favour.

Forward this message to everyone you know,

because I don't remember who the hell I've sent it to.

Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming

It comes to us all!

I was doing ok until loads of unforseen stuff happened, now i only have until lunchtime tomorrow when 1st of the children break up.

I always think that everyone one here sounds so organised making and baking etc. this thread has made me feel so much better :D

Hubby did comment this morning that we had been burgled and all they had taken was the dirty washing, so I must have done something so far this week, I wish they would take the ironing too

I have to confess that I knew that Christmas was on a tuesday this year, I worked that out quite a while back. Tuesday is my longest and trickiest day at work...... by far, so I'm delighted that I've got 2 of them off. Great for me :D

I've just got my parcels in the post, for my sisters and friends whom I won't be seeing this Christmas, chosen my tree from the local farm shop and am just waiting for them to deliver it to me :D , I've posted all my cards, including almost all of the hand delivered ones, and after hitting panic mode at weekend I can suddenly see it all coming together. Christmas is coming :D:D:D:D:D

I'm going to own up to my senior moment now.

I went into the garage last night and confidently put my hand out to reach for the box of tree decorations, which are ALWAYS kept in the same place.....and they weren't there!! :?

No-one knows where they can be.

I had to dash out to Waitrose and buy some more this am.

I had carefully collected purple and silver decs over they years and they were lovely. Everyone goes for red and gold, so they were always a bit of a talking point.

This year it has to be blue and silver.

Luckily I go for the minimalist look so it doesn't look too bad. It still cost £30!!

A horrible thought has entered my head. My boiler was repaired about three weeks ago, and the decs were on a shelf right next to it.

*Gulp*

Has the boiler man nicked them? Nothing to base that on except guesswork.

Can't bear to think about it.

I'm hoping they will turn up in March in a very silly place.

If I could spare the time I would be devastated.

I am missing a box too egluntine

Mine are definitely misplaced as I have so many boxes

I normally have 2 trees but only have one this year but can I find the box with the traditional German woven decs in it that my late aunt gave my mum years ago - no

It will be in among the general rubbish and detritus I have stored in the cabin but no time to look properly this year :oops::lol:
