Cinnamon
In fact, its looking quite good already. I will get some photos when I can We have learnt from our mistakes & are making improvemnts in the following areas - 1 - Making it out of smaller gauge welded mesh rather than chicken wire. 2 - Making it on deep cement foundations to stop rats burrowing in 3 - Making the doors open inwards,to push the hens who clambour to get out,out of the way 4 - Having the housing on the outside of the pen,as last time the doors were not quite big enough to get a poo tray out of,without a fair bit of jiggling, tipping & swearing. 5 - We have posistioned this one on the opposite side of the garden, away from the stream which gets very high & worries me 6 - It will have slabs all round,to stop my jean hems from dragging in the mud! Christian
Sounds fantastic Cinnamon! Can't wait to see pictures! I plan to put my eglus on paving slabs, as, after 18 months of rat free chicken keeping, Mr Ratty has discovered us and tunneled into the run! Have tried peanut butter, bacon, corn, chocolate in the trap but he is avoiding it! Hope your run is finished soon.
Ain't Nobody Here
Good luck with it! Those are certainly handy hints for anyone else building their own run (I like the inward opening door one!) .
Cinnamon
Here is a piccy of the progress so far : The big round is for my big hens, with the smaller one for the Bants. There will be an internal door between the 2 pens. Excuse the mud & the digger, which is hiding a nice honeysuckle I plan to train up the big round pen

Tessa the Duchess
It looks a wonderful work in progress. DH is at the planning and measuring stage for my new run. Could I ask you what gauge your weldmesh is and where you bought it from? Also did you treat the wooden parts, I am thinking of using Cuprinol. Last thing how are you attaching the plastic housing to the mesh? I am also having the Eglu house outside the run but am unclear how to make it secure and foxproof. WitchHazel
OH, I love the round pens! Wish we'd thought of that! My DH has built all the panels now, and their standing in the greenhouse waiting for the roofing material to arrive. Looking forward to seeing more pics as it progresses. Tessa We got the mesh on Ebay, as it was cheaper than anywhere else. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160174671875 The wood is tannenised,so doesn't need to be treated & as for how the roof attatches....not a clue! The Hubby builds conservatories for a living, so I reckon he must have a few tricks up his sleeve as to how to do that!

Cinnamon
The shape is really good, but it sort of came about by default as that is where our above ground swimming pool used to be, so there was a nice circular area already there. Hubby is a bit down in the dumps today,so I don't know if there will be much progress
