Omlet English Dictionary - feel free to add new ones!

I hate it when the kids do that too.

Year 10 - ask them to write a business letter - deliberately don't mention layout or anything as I know they will do that as per a written letter but I'll teach them about that as we go.

Back comes letter, layout all wrong, punctuation all wrong and not a capital letter in sight. Tell them it's a letter, you need to use proper English, sentances, paragraphs, capital letters.

Back Comes Letter With Capital Letters

Tell them only to put capital letters when appropriate, back comes letter with captals at the beginning of each sentance but none for names, I etc

Send kid away again

Finally the bits they SHOULD have learned in English are right, now I just have to teach them how the layout differs when they are typying a business letter.

This drives me totally bananas - anyone who thinks ICT must be easy to teach think on about how we also have to teach English and then when we get to spreadsheets - Maths!

dance & droolygooeyumptious - I feel quite honoured!!!

What a brilliant dictionary everyone.

One other of my favourite words is piffyfied = silly / daft, not as it should be.

Oh and twonk = a wally!!!

Squiffy is a good word too = when you feel ugh!

There's another one of my words...UGH means horrid / not nice / gross!

Good fun this!

 I'm fine remembering what I had for breakfast, or indeed what I did (or wore, or said) 40 years ago.

But, haven't a clue what I did yesterday or the day before. :?

It is your short term memory that goes first Sheila.
