Practical Poultry.

It is very interesting and covers small flock holders like us and also larger commercial keepers,

Its well worth a look if you can find it, We subscribe as we can only;y get it at the feed store, and that's if we are quick

I've copied my post from Cinnamon's "7 out of 7" post.

  • I'm just a bit concerned that Maisie's eggs might fall through - not bantam size just quite narrow (they fall to the bottom of egg cups  ).

Does anyone have a skelter that could measure the gap for me? Don't want to spend that much to find 1/3 of my eggs won't go in it :? .

Can anyone help, please? :)

Aren't you supposed to store eggs point down? It's a great idea though.

In a picture I saw, the eggs were pointing downwards rather than on their sides rolling down. I think it's a must have!

When mine arrived there was a handwritten note saying to put them on with the pointy end in,which is what I have been doing.

I do like mine - I like the shape & style of it,BUT I find that I worry about the eggs falling off & smashing,so I may go back to my nice egg basket insted.

Interestingly, the eBay link above shows the eggs stored top to tail rather than side to side, which is how I have them - does anyone know which is right?

Here is how mine look -

laying them end to end you wouldn't get the full amount it and also I don't think they would roll.

We have a problem with the really small eggs they twist and I have to help them realign but still loads easier than my old rotation system

Oh dear, I feel really guilty now :( .

I snapped up a skelter on Ebay yesterday but this morning received a lovely email from Kay and Phil saying they've made more and to confirm my order & send a cheque. I had no idea they would be this quick  . Shall I just ignore it (bit rude :? ) or fib and say my darling OH knew how much I wanted one and happened to find one on Ebay? Or tell the truth  .

Which is the most morally acceptable get out clause?

Be honest, the one on Ebay will be one of theirs I'm quite sure, when I originally asked about the price they said that there was a discount if you bought a bulk order, someone obviously did and you bought it,

I think they are so pleased to have made a success out of it they won't care where you got it
