hillfamily
I've accidently shredded my 'To Do' list I don't know wether to feel liberated or panic stricken : I had spent ages going through the house and garden noting down all the little jobs that needed to be done
Ziggy
I once took my to-do lists and careful planners and in a fit of 'I'm so fed up with this all', just tore it into as many pieces as I could, and it was one of the best things I've ever done... I've lived list-free since, except at Xmas, cause I worry I might forget something or someone at such a busy time... the rest of the time I don't worry about it... Welcome to the liberated anti-list brigade

hillfamily
the thing is I was trying to get all the little jobs around the house and garden done so it was all pretty and finished :D Then I could treat myself to the one thing I've been wanting to do for 12 years - take a month off and enjoy my house and garden, spend some time listening to music, playing my piano, read all these books people keep telling me are great, watch the wildlife in the garden, cook lovely recipes and chat to my chooks :D :DS *sighs dreamily that one day i might achieve this*

As long as the roof isn't leaking anything else can wait surely Tessa
hillfamily
That's a thought :D - not sure though that I could fully relax knowing there were still things to do just my nature sometimes wish I wasn't like that
Goosey Lucy
There will always be jobs to do. I think your sub-conscious may have shredded the list for you. Take a break, treat yourself to some proper relaxation and then write a new to do list if you really feel you have to. I advise you take all of February off. It's only 29 days after alll... Egluntyne
Maintaining a house and garden is like maintaining the Forth Bridge. You get to the end of your list and then you have to start all over again.
hillfamily
such wise words of wisdom mmmmmmmm - i could take Feb off (for 10 days only have 1 teenager - boy - so he'll be on WOW all the time ) then finish off the jobs (having had a chance to rest and return to them feeling refreshed) :D
Ain't Nobody Here
(for 10 days only have 1 teenager - boy - so he'll be on WOW all the time ) I've got one of them (well, 2 actually) . Just as well I do my forumming on the laptop, I never get on the PC . It'd be funny if yours & mine are talking to each on WOW while we're on here! Olly
I am a great list-maker. I forget things all the time, and I get a sense of achievement when (if! ) I've ticked things off (hands up if you always cheat by putting down a couple of items you've already done!) However ... I used to make a list of jobs to do each weekend, and just feel demoralised that I didn't get through them all. I changed my approach, and now I make a list of 5 things (no more) that will improve my quality of life. These can be random things like cleaning the oven, sorting out that drawer in the kitchen that is rammed full of odds-and-ends and never closes, or phoning someone I've been meaning to call for ages. It might include things like painting the kitchen, doing the filing etc, but if so, I break them down into achievable size chunks - paint one wall, sort out one pile of papers. It's much more motivating, and I almost always achieve it. I reckon if you can't remember what was on the list, it didn't need doing that badly anyway

Cate in NZ
I regularly have a "to do" list on the go.............but I never, ever get to the end of it . By the time I've finished the original list I've added an extra 20 things to it. It must be quite liberating to be without a list for a few days, go on, relax and have a few days off, and I bet that you can remember all the important things on the shredded list, so you can start work on compiling a bigger, better list mark 2 when you're suitably refreshed and relaxed

little chickadee
I'm a big list person as it's the only way I can be even remotely organised. If we're going away somewhere, I get in a total panice if I lose my packing list (I didn't panic about packing before I had kids, It was all so uncomplicated!!!!)
