Tom Baker shopping in Tenterden

Recommended Posts

Sad celeb spotter that I am, was in a nice kitchen shop in Tenterden with Richard this morning when I realised that the tall chap standing next to me in the queue was Tom Baker! What an incredible voice! Had to smile when the young lad at the counter asked if he could be of any help and he replied, "Oh, I'm afraid I'm beyond help" in his inimitable way.

Texted my daughter who had absolutely no idea who he was :( Had to share with you because I'm sure you'll know why I was excited.

Incidentally, the girl behind the till asked if the lad was start struck and told him that she'd been just the same when Paul MacCartney was in last!

Guess where I'll be shopping from now!

We have seen sinbad quite a few times as well. Think he must get about a bit. Also have served Ron Dixon (brookside) in a shop in chester where I used to work and have seen Jimmy Corkhill (brookside)

Didnt think much of Ron Dixon, he was a bit 'dont you know who I am' Which is quite offputting! Also saw Gail from corrie whilst shopping in Manchester.

Hubby was very good pals with Brue Boa, for you Fawlty Towers fans out there is the American in 'Waldorf Salad' episode. Also was in Star wars etc... What a man. Unfortunatly passed away a couple of years ago. I felt privalaged to have known him. The tales he would tell of all the stars he knew were enthralling.

I have coffee with Ian Rankin most Fridays (:liar: - we frequent the same Starbucks  .)

Oooh you lucky thing, does he ever wear his kilt?

Not exactly the famous author image you'd expect - he always wears black and looks like he slept in his clothes  .

Not like J K Rowling (who hasn't been in Starbucks for a while admittedly  ). She always looks immaculate  .

Alexander McColl Smith looked very smart when he came in too  .

My goodness... not sure if there is no one here, or I'm just not paying attention!! My sister in law once pointed a celebrity while we were out on a family walk, but I had no idea who she was (I don't watch any soaps)...

I am told Jeremy Clarkson is always around but I haven't seen him yet, the only celebrity I've ever seen around here is Rowan Atkinson...

and Raymond Blanc, whose feet I dropped lots of tomatoes on in Marks and Spencer once....

Was in same holiday resort as Ainsley Harriot once... he was very lovely and smiley...

My friend bumped into Derek Jacobi (literally!) in Sheffield.

She had seen the play he was in only a few days previously and told him so. They ended up having a 10 minute chat.

She said he was absolutely lovely and really interested in what she thought about the play.

I used to see lots of the cast of Crossroads in Birmingham. I remember 'Miss Diane' swanning out of Rackhams (House of Fraser) and flouncing down the road wearing sunglasses, a full length fur coat and copious amounts of fake tan in summer  I bumped into Don Maclean (the comedian) in New Street station, quite literally, he is very tall and wasn't funny at all :D I saw Simon Rattle, ex CBSO conductor, taking his children to school one morning, and Bob Warman a local news presenter, was swapping cars outside my place of work early one morning. Tommy Boyd walked into the solicitors where I used to work in the city centre, and we used to get the cricket stars of the day visit us as one of the partners was heavily involved at Edgbaston Cricket Club, I hadn't a clue who they were though

I've never seen any big stars though, but I understand quite a few live in the city centre, we just don't visit the same shops!

Now Pebble Mill has been pulled down, the BBC have a studio really close to where I live and they film scenes for Doctors (they use an old medical supplies place and the park where I get my sloes) and Dalziel and Pascoe down the road (they even film in the local Co-op from time to time). Maybe they'll catch me rummaging around in the bushes in September  that would be an interesting background shot :D

One of mum's friends is an actor and appeared in Boon for a couple of episodes. He had to be at the studios in Nottingham for 7am one day for the coach to take them filming on location. He drove all the way from Brum and was rather annoyed when the coach brought him all the way back home to his local high street in Kings Heath, Birmingham, where the exterior shots were being done
