bellekatz
It was given to me with other bits if chicken stuff by a former Omleteer who had to give up chicken keeping. Not that any of my girls would attack........... ( unless you had grapes )

BeckyBoo
What lovely chooks and what a lovely present for Mothers Day. I'm not very good with breeds, what sort are they? Mrs B
bellekatz
Gina and Pina are Magpies, Rosa is an Amber Star and Bella is a Bluebelle. Bella has lovely gold marking on her neck - I didntknow Bluebelles had those they are all babies still - no combs as such and still getting their adult feathers so it will be a while before any eggs, but they are really cute - I managed to have a cuddle with all of them as I was trying to get them to bed this evening

superjules
My white chook (think she's the same sort as Rosa) laid her 1st egg today. It was orange with speckles, which was a surprise! Are you still waiting on Rosa?
bellekatz
I think i will be still waiting on Rosa for a while yet She still looks like a baby - her wattle and comb have grown only a little where as two of the others have got much biggrer and redder. She has a bad eye as well - I think she was pecked there but she can still open it for treats She is such a cutie though, easy to pick up and stroke that I dont mind another freeloader - still only 1 egg a day - just a different one every day
Karen Pimlott
The wather doent help... we have 400 chucks & lucky if we get 40 eggs at the mo.. All the birds you had from us would of been between 16 & 19 weeks, not a great differance in age. She may never develop a big wattle etc... although she should not be pale in her face. her eye will need treatment, an anti biotic cream from the vet will do the trick, or you could try the optrex eye drops with the anti biotic in them thats available over the counter. You dont want it to go through the flock, if she is not a 100% she will not lay. Karen
superjules
Good luck with treating Rosa's eye. I'm guessing the cream option would be easier to apply than drops. Hopefully that will do the trick and you'll start getting more eggs. Sylvie's comb and wattles are nowhere near as big as Magpie's but she's got a much redder face now. She was 16/17 weeks when I got her on 21st Feb, so 21/22 weeks now. This is her last week:

bellekatz
I will give the drops a go - she is so friendly it won't be a problem. There is no infection though, I can see where her lid is sore where she has been pecked This is her on Sunday - her eye doesnt look too bad - her face is not too red yet though

Wishing you happy families Ms Tillythinkschooksaresomuchfunandsatousidewatchingthemfreerangeforanhourtoday I have been very lucky with the introductions - they all went in the new cube at the same time after we had had the new girls a week so I guess that helped. There have been a few squawks but nothing major apart from poor little Rosa having her eye pecked. They are all getting on well and we are just hoping that Pina and Bella will lay soon as they are looking much redder these days.
