The 'red'in qurestion is a South african - ' BRAMPTON' VERY nice and it is slipping down well (can't see an I am getting sozzled emoticon ?) Anyone got any other wine suggestions for a wine list ?? Forgot to mention : its a 'Shiraz' but contains small quantities of mourvedre, grenache and the very aromatic grape, viognier - Hic ! chelsea
now im no wine connisuer, (hardly drink it) but one of the nicest wine's I've had lately is Arniston Bay (South African) white wine. Its not a premium wine but goes down a treat!
Tessa the Duchess
Sadly I can't drink very much red wine, it gives me the most horrendous headaches so I tend to stick to white. My fave red wine is Jacob's Creek Shiraz Cabernet, its cheap and cheerful and lovely to drink with food. I much prefer Australian and New Zealand wines to French ones, I think French wine can be very vinegary Tessa
MedusA
My OH and me visited his brother and wife in New Zealand last year. I am totally sold on Marlborough area Sauvignon Blanc! I love the "gooseberryness" of it. I'm not a wine buff, but I do like my good whites. (Reds give me migraines so I can't really appreciate them as much, but it doesn't stop me trying)
Cinnamon
Brampton is a lovely wine - we have had that before. Now I am at Weigh"Ooops, word censored!"chers & am restricted to a glass a day,I do like it to be a nice glass The best one I have recently found is called Hawkstone Cabernet Sauvignon, & I bout it in Tesco as it was reduced from £8 to £4. It was just gorgeous, but is not on offer any more, & I really don't like spending more than a fiver on wine. Kumala Eternal is on offer at the mo, & that is alos very lovely
jomaxsmith
I find I dislike anything that anyone else recommends, taste in wine is so precise! I like a real oaky chardonnay, usually australian. I don't drink red very often as I can't drink much before it gives me a headache. I had my first glass today at about 4pm - I love weekends! I don't like oaky Chardonnay (but thats not to say I won't drink it if there is nothing else going ) I tend to like my Whites pale, crisp & bone dry.Arniston Bay is lovely. I like a nice Pink in the summer,in the garden when the sun is going down. This time of year I like a good full flavoured fruity red. To be honest theres not much wine I won't drink, but I do draw the line at Hock, white that is not ice cold or anything cloyingly sweet that isn't a dessert wine
Cate in NZ
Wine One of my favourite topics........I'm not bothered by chocolate or sweet stuff, but I love a nice wine. I'm not a wine buff by any means, I'll dring most things, but love an Italian Pinot Grigio or Montepulciano D'Abruzzo (??spelling) and have developed a real taste for NZ whites. We sampled a few when we were over there last year, and even brought back a case of Esk Valley Sauvignon, and have tried a few more since we got home, but I do feel a bit guilty about the food miles, so try to stick to Eurpean wines in the main. I've even tried some very nice English wines from a vineyard just a few miles down the road ffom me. Now........where's that corkscrew
bokbok
I'm glad I'm not the only one I am enjoying a glass OK you caught me out - change that to bottle of Zimmermann Bereich Bernkastel (German white wine 10.5%) it's a nice fruity white #3 and is going down very well
Karen & co.
I'm currently tucking into a Wolf Blass Cabernet Sauvingnon, very nice Karen x
Snowy
I love Wolf Blass Yellow Label Cabernet Shiraz! Unfortunately OH only remembers the shiraz part so he keeps buying a plain shiraz WAY too strong on it's own! I find these days I'm veering more towards white anyway - red seems a little 'heavy'
Ain't Nobody Here
No idea what it was, but whatever wine it was I drank tonight seems to have done the trick .

Champagne goes straight to my head, and I can get very silly and giggly which is why it is such fun to drink, just occasionaly though Tessa

Now then, this thread must stop immediately. I started reading it at work last night with hours of boring work stretching ahead and was instantly VERY jealous of you all chillin' out. But - then I had a 'hair of the dog' - felt fine afterwards.(not sure about the dog though) Would love to try some of the pink champagne in the summer.
