Cinnamon
I saw 'The Other Boleyn Girl' It was ok - not as good as the book, but Eric Bana looked gorgeous Anyhow, the absolute highlight of my outing was catching 4 trailers for films that look wonderful, which I thought I would share with you lot. 1-'Son Of Rambow' - Don't be put off by the mad title. its about 2 young boys who want to make a movie & decide to do a follow up to Rambo, & it looks absolutely brilliant. Very sweet & funny 2 - 'Mamma Mia' - I would never have thought I would want to see this, but it looks great. Its set on a Greek island & its about a girl who goes through her mums diary & invites the 3 men who might be her dad over. Colin Firth is one of them,Pierce Brosnan another. The Island looked amazing, & the movie looks like a real feel good musical. 3 - '27 Dresses' - About a girl who is always the bridesmaid & never the bride. It looks really, really funny. 4 - '10,000 BC' - By the guy who did 'Independence day'. The effects look great, & I am a succker for a good dino movie

Cate in NZ
I read "The Other Boleyn Girl" a year or so ago and loved it and have been so looking forward to seeing the film, but it had a poor write up in the papers at weekend . You only rate it as OK...........is it worth going to see, or am I better sticking with my fond memories of the book. Some of those other films sound . I saw "Mamma Mia" in the West End a few years back and loved the stage show (bit of a closet Abba fan here ) so I'm definitely wanting to see that film. Cinnamon
Its a difficult one Kate. I loved the book - its easily one of my top 10 fave books ever & I hate it when a loved book is mashed by a movie maker.Memoirs of a Geisha wasn't too bad, nor was Bridget Jones & Brokeback Mountain was fab..........but The Da Vinci Code was awful! The Other Boleyn Girl was a bit like Tudor-Lite. Everything was very fast & there was no real sense of time.Anne actually spent many years seducing Henry, but it was all over in 10mins in the movie, as was Marys affair with him.And she didn't have her daughter Catherine either. The sexual tension wasn't apparant, althought the leads are all gorgeous. Mary looked like she had been slapped in the face with a kipper most of the time It was in fact a perfectly pleasant way to while away a couple of hours in the afternoon, but I woun't be seeing it again. I am a great believer in everyone taking what they can from a movie, despite reviews. So go & see it,enjoy it for what it is & let me know what you thought
MedusA
I hate it when they rush storylines to fit them into a film. It's like they think filmgoers only have a limited attention span and they have to keep firing stuff at you to keep you interested. I will definitely not go to see this movie. Can I also just say that I think Scarlet Johanson (?sp) can't act for toffee? I'm just waiting for the new "Indy" movie. Harrison may be getting on a bit, but he still has it.....especially with a sweaty hat and a bullwhip!

Guest
I've just been to see The Other Boleyn Girl and I would agree with what Cinnamon has said. Whilst it was an OK movie to watch, it didn't do the book justice at all. The fact that Mary Boleyn was the King's mistress for 3 years and bore him 2 children wasn't brought out at all. Things seemed to be given one outing to get the message across and I wonder how effective that was. For example, Jane Parker, who was married to George Boleyn, always complained at how much time he spent with Anne. From the book we are led to think this is because he hated Jane and wanted to avoid her. Jane resented him not being a loving husband. It is because of this long-standing tension that she starts allegations of incest. It was nice to go to the cinema while everyone was at school though - quite decadent! bronze
I think 27 dresses looks like a good chickflick. Its got the gorgeous girl from greys anatomy in it and I think we'll watch it when its out on tv. I havent been to the cinema for over 5 years. Last thing was catch me if you can. Cinnamon
It was nice to go to the cinema while everyone was at school though - quite decadent! Isn't it Ginette? I take a nice Pret baguette & a Starbucks skinny latte & make a real afternoon of it Go & see 'Juno', I promise that you will love it.It is one of the most charming movies I have seen in many years. 27 dresses does look good too - might try & see that next week (I treat myself to the movies on Wednesday lunchtime with a coffee & baguette if I have done well at Weigh"Ooops, word censored!"chers on Wednesday morning )

Guest
I take a nice Pret baguette & a Starbucks skinny latte & make a real afternoon of it Our cinema is a Cineworld and I have major issues with their food and drink. You are only allowed food and drink bought from their premises, nothing else. Last summer I demanded my money back when I took all the children and they wouldn't let me take a bottle of tap water in. Today, the film started at 11:30 and finished just before 2pm - clearly lunch time for normal people! You can buy popcorn, sweets, nachos or ice cream. I bought a large cappucino and fortunately it lasted me. I also took in my water in my bag, but I wasn't sure about smuggling in some sandwiches, inevitably squashed and undesirable! No wonder this country has an obesity problem! There is absolutely no regard for meal times any more.

I watched again last night. I LOVE the final episodes. I also love that dress Carrie was wearing when she met big in Paris (big frilly skirt). Cant wait for the film. Paramount comedy are starting the WHOLE SATC series again in April from the beginning, I will again watch every episode and the last episode coincides with the release of the film. fairy&cake
Chelsea did you watch it on Paramount? I know they are showing 1-6 on there arent they, I am so sad, i need to cheer up. But it was so beautiful, the costume in the final episodes were so romantic. I jumped up out of my chair when she was calling for a taxi and big was in that car, and shouted 'BIG!' Ross shook his head at me. Im in lurve with Mr Big tho, hes gorgeous and perfect. Or should i say 'John' I watched in again on Paramount +1 after, again, oh how i love it. Im currently itching to go to NYC, but i wont be able to go fro the next 18 yrs. Its not a very baby friendly place, and i wouldne leave seth with anyone anyway. Im hoping when hes about 5 we will go, maybe.Although i dont think its a child friendly place, and i know him and ross wouldnt stand 14 hr shopping days, When i last went, Sam and i, [my good friend] used to get up at 6am, shower, go to subway and start shopping at 8am until 10pm . Im reading a book at the minute, and its got NY dotted about all in and over it. Oh how i miss my NY!!!
chelsea
yes I watch it on paramount every night even though i've seen them all before. Hubby does a lot of when im watching. They are just so great though, even though I've watched them loads im never bored. I hated that Alexandr protrovsky bloke - not carrie's type at all! Im sure you will get to NYC in the next few years (i dont think you'll have to wait 18!). I have never been but I have an unhealthy obsession with the place. Every day I check out the 5th avenue and times square web cams to see what the weather is doing!!

chickencam
Our nearest cinema is Cineworld too and I have taken to having a bag with me with water bottles in it and crisps. We can't get hot drinks in ours either. It is really silly that there is really only sweet food available which can make kids sick do they really want that in their nice shiny new cinema?
