Chuckov
Just curious really - mine have been going to bed earlier and earlier the last week! Tonight it was 5pm and it was still sunny outside!

chelsea
5-6pm. However my old gal Ella took herself to bed early (daylight) one night this week. I think because the days are longer she's been so active during the day she needed an early night!
Beki
About 6.30... basically as soon as it gets dark enough to need to use a torch
jomaxsmith
Well before dark, but if I go out to take the grub in before it's got really dark then they tend to come out to say hello so they're not really sleeping at that time. Jo
Rona
6.30 to 7.00 and getting later every night as the days get longer. If I go to shut them in too soon after they have gone up to bed, then they come straight back out again!! They never go in the eglu during the day except to lay an egg or to be nosy if I have cleaned out the nest
Scotty
yep 6pm - out all day but like to be tucked up nice and snuggly by 6pm
Sarah B
Mine are in the run all day and get an hours free range in the evening. They put themselves to bed as it goes dark.
meezers
6.15 at the moment, though Bluebelle would like to go earlier, she starts going into the coop at 5.30, pops her head out to see if anyone is following, comes back out when she realises they are'nt, and repeats every 5 mins until bedtime
superjules
Most of mine are around 6.30 at the moment, I have a couple who are dirty stopouts and will party on til nearly 7pm!
dogs and chickens
Mine pop themselves to bed about 6.30 at the moment, just as you need a torch really. Patch was not sleeping when I went up to shut the door this evening, she was happily sat looking out of the eglu door, she semed most fed up when I shut the door! Bless her! They seem to be getting later as the days get longer. Out of interest in mid summer do they go to bed really late, like at 10p.m? Or do they get really tired and go off to bed in the end? Eyren
I haven't been keeping an eye on the time, but generally the pekins go to bed as soon as it starts getting dark, whereas Angelica the wyandotte paces up and down for another half-hour or more
TAJ
Rye always takes herself to bed a good hour before the other two, about 6pm and the others about 7 pm - althought last night I had to force them back in the run at 7 as they were still free ranging and I was getting concerned that foxes might be around and it was dark. ajm200
If they are confined to the cube run they go to bed as the sun is starting to set. Both days that they escaped from their pen and roamed round the garden they completely forgot about bedtime as they were too busy foraging. I had to go out with a torch and shoo them back into the run after dark
Janty
The bantams always go to bed first at about 4ish. The ex-batts go next. This is probably an hour or so later and the big girls usually go last at anything up to 7ish. They were out when it was getting quite dark last night and still managed to find their way back. I was amazed.

Tina C
Mine stay up as late as possible - and yes that means that in the summer they want to stay up later than me! Mine NEVER go to bed until its very dusky.
Keanie Bean
Mine will go to bed at about 7ish, but if you go out to close the eglu they will come sprinting out, obviously in the hope of a tasty morsel Sarah.x
