Snowy
I'm very disappointed with these I used the first one in the little tablet drawer in the dishwasher. When the cycle had finished I was left with a mush of powder still in the drawer and mucky pots. Next wash I split the little bag and added powder to drawer - still had a mushy mess at the end. I now split the bag and pour the powder directly onto the door panel and they seem to work OK (although they still do not clean well with the eco cycle, I have to use intensive or auto, which defeats the object a bit) Has anyone else tried them and found this, or is it just me? Tessa the Duchess
I've never heard of these Snowy. I use Ecover tablets and am very happy with them. Tessa
abwsco
Oh no Snowy I was just wondering if you'd got them and how you were finding them. Feel awful as I posted I've found them brilliant. I use the lowest setting on my DW which is a temp of 55. Wonder if you've got a duff batch. I'd ring Simply up about it.
Keanie Bean
I've seen these but have been a bit hesitant about eco dishwasher tablets after using ecover and not getting good results. Its really annoying as everything else in my house is an eco version. I think I'll have to give the bicarb and vinegar a go insted as I really hate having to buy chemical laden cleaning products. Olly
That's funny because I use Ecover, and think they are good! I wonder if it is influenced by the water - Tessa and I would both be in a hard water area, although having said that, of course the dishwasher salt should even that out. Haven't tried the Simply ones, Snowy - but it's odd that some of us find these products to work, and some don't. If you're getting mucky pots, then it isn't just a case of 'not liking' the product - there is something wrong. Maybe it depends on the dishwasher? Keanie Bean
Yes, the ecover was leaving residue aswell as not getting the dishes clean, so maybe it is the dishwasher, although ours is only two years old and an AEG which I was always lead to believe was a good brand. Maybe I just cook dirty Sarah.x
The Dogmother
Phil tried Ecover tablets in his DW and said that they weren't nearly as good as the regular ones he uses.
Eyren
I alternate at the moment between ecover and whatever non-green brand is going cheap in the supermarket. Not related to the non-dissolving issue, but is the problem with the green ones that we are so used to these fancy 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 tabs, we don't bother with salt and rinse aid any more? I've now bought some ecover rinse aid, but maybe I should be adding salt as well?
Tessa the Duchess
My dishwasher is ancient, must be over 20 years old I do use salt and rinse aid in mine and I get brilliant results with Ecover tabs. Mind you I am mindful that a dishwasher is NOT a food disposal unit and I do rinse really mucky stuff under the tap first, but it gets all tea and coffee stains off mugs etc., with no problems. Lesley
We use Ecover with Ecover Rinse Aid and salt - when the salt ran out we had a residue on the glassware and crockery.
Trish
My dispenser drawer thingie broke ages ago and the engineer said they are not worth fixing, just throw the tablet in the bottom of the dishwasher, it works just as well and because they are sitting in the water they do tend to dissolve very well. As to salt he said the main reason for the salt was to keep the pipes free of greasy/soapy build up, our machine wouldn't drain and the waste pipe was solid with foul smelling gunk so we always keep the salt topped up. Worth putting the machine through it's hottest wash cycle once in a whilr too but obvioulsy if you cancel the programme then there's no need for it to do the dryer cycle too. Tessa the Duchess
We use Ecover with Ecover Rinse Aid and salt - when the salt ran out we had a residue on the glassware and crockery. Yep the salt is crucial. My salt indicator broke years ago, I know when to re-fill when the glasses come out with a bloom on them. Snowy
Hm, thanks for the replies. I'd got lazy with topping up the salt so the indicator light was on. I hadn't bothered as these tabs said they were a 6 in 1! Right, salt is now full; I've used some dishwasher cleaner on a hot cycle and given the filter a thorough clean. I'll give them another go and see if there is now a difference
Milly
I find tablets don't work on the quick wash/eco cycle. It doesn't seem to give them time to dissolve. I just use powder and get good results. Is this the same as the Simply Eco Smart clothes washing range (which I bought after seeing it recommended in Good Housekeeping)? I do always use rinse aid and salt though as my dishwasher won't work without them.
Snowy
Well, these work OK on the intensive cycle, but not very well on Eco (unless the pots aren't very dirty). Not sure if I'll get them again The washing powder is fine though!
AJuff
Have you tried mixing one teaspoon of borax with one teaspoon of bicarb of soda? It works a treat in our dishwasher. We mix up a palstic tub and put a scoop in at a time. Borax can be used for washing up too. You only need a teaspoon but it make you realise how much we have become used to foaming products!
