AnnieP
I had rhubarb crumble yesterday. Delicious. No custard though. I love it, OH hates it. ....Just as well we ate it all, as I could quite happily have some for breakfast now!
Chicken on a mission
I love crumbles but have to admit that I prefer rhubarb to be cooked with another fruit Although I like crumble with custard I do prefer it served hot with something cold like a good vanilla ice cream or plain old cream (thanks to you I might have to tip my lappy upside down to get all the dribble out )
Mel (& Paul)
We put ginger in our rhubarb crumble - yum! If you have been watching the cooking thing for the Queen you'll have seen Paul Rankin and Richard Corrigan both use rhubarb Paul made a buttermilk panacotta with rhubarb and rose water and Richard made a rhubarb and mango compote Yum! Linda
Ooh, rhubarb, lovely! I make a lovely lemony pan cotta flavoured with limoncello liqueur. It's yummy served with a berry sauce. My tarte tatin always makes a tasty dessert too!
Popcorn
Lesley, rest assured, there are no sultanas in this bread & butter pud! It's made with marmalade sandwiches! I'm only sharing it with Gina now, double portion. Would you like the crusty edge bit too, Gina? Also, I suggested fruit salad as an alternative because I know Lesley likes fruit & I was going to make a special one. OK, I'll have that now. Oh, thanks Sheila I'll pass on the 'double portion' of Bread & Butter pudding (although I did think it was Bread Pudding - now I'm all confused, but would like some all the same please) and I'll take Lesely's portion of Fruit Salad as seconds please
Sheilaz
Here we go, Gina, put your feet up & enjoy it! Mmmmm...fresh pineapple. PS. Everyone else meant bread pudding but I got over excited & made bread & butter pudding, Delia's with marmalade instead of sultanas. Yum. Linda
Would you like the crusty edge bit too, Gina? Ooh, I'll be fighting Gina for those! Yes, I know she's pregnant and needs it but I love the crusty edge bits on anything! And the burnt skin - cheese sauce, rice pudding - you name it, I go for the skin!! Cate in NZ
Grrr, it's nearly bed-time, I'm valiantly working my way through the forum and catching up with all the bits I've missed on my weekend away.... and now you've all made me hungry I do not need to go and rummage through the fridge and freezer for any leftover puds I haven't eaten bread pudding for years though, used to like it occasionally, but it sure fills you doesn't it. I might have a bash at making that recipe one day, thanks for posting it Sarah. Has anyone else tried chocolate bread and pudding. I think it was a Delia recipe that called for nutella or similar, but I made it with melted G&B's smeared onto very lightly buttered bread, baked as you would a normal bread & butter pud, and served with cream. Very, very nice Fresh fruit salad, very tasty, one of my faves , but just too healthy to belong on this thread.... surely

Hellcat
Here we go, Gina, put your feet up & enjoy it! Mmmmm...fresh pineapple. PS. Everyone else meant bread pudding but I got over excited & made bread & butter pudding, Delia's with marmalade instead of sultanas. Yum. aaaaahhhhh! That is one recipe the other half would have me make every day! I made a trifle today and the kids ate half of it after tea (please note, they are 3 and 6, and ate half a trifle designed to last all of us 3 days!!) Never again will I let them help themselves!! 5 of 5 liked it too. I'm sure you're not supposed to give 7 month olds jelly, blueberries, custard and cream with grated choc on, are you? Sheilaz
Trifle is my other speciality, but with no jelly, I detest jelly. Esther liked trifle as a baby, and for family gatherings I always made two, one with sherry, one without for the children. Just about stopped my sis in law in time when she helped...by giving Esther (age 1 at the time) an enormous portion of the sherry one! Bother, I'm hungry now. Sheilaz
Spam fritters! Yum, whatever happened to them?
Mel (& Paul)
Last time I had spam fritters must have been about 11 years ago at a VE day party - they were lovely (but it was a barbecue, we had been drinking most of the day and we were hungry )
Guest
Spam fritters remind me of school. They were absolutely disgusting. Along with liver, stew and tapioca. Chocolate brick with peppermint custard, now that was a different matter
