I have a lovely wooden swing seat. Mine is only a two seater but they do a three seater - it's about six years old but still in excellent condition. I have the Apex design one and have honeysuckle and jasmine growing all around it. I can highly recommend this company!

PS they are usually at Gardener's World show at the NEC in June if you get up there and often do special prices (I ordered a love seat at last year's and got a good price reduction)

I would really recommend going round a few garden centres to look at them - I've been pondering over one for about a year and have found that

a) you get what you pay for

b) some are really low down - his might not be too much of an issue, but having a sister with Rheumatoid Arthritis who struggles to get up from low seats makes me almost OCD about the heights of chairs/seats  Thinking about the later months of pregnancy you might not want it too low :D

Webbs at Wychbold will have a selection no doubt - but get the name of the make if you can then source it on the tinternet

I think this has to be the tops in garden swing seats. According to the blurb the cover is weatherproof and you can even hide within it. However, I think it costs about as much as an extension or a log cabin.

Oh yes, I can just see myself reclining on one of those in my long flowery frock with my straw hat when I've finished collecting strawberries for afternoon tea 8) *dreams*

We bought one for this house just before we moved here 20 months ago. OH finally put it up this weekend  (and I'm sure that's only because he wanted the garage space not because he realised it would be nice!)

We actually got it from Sainsburys  in their clear-out sale - we also bought a BBQ and a summer table and chairs .... we were going from a postage stamp to a large garden with 2 patio areas. Strangely that all got put together this weekend too  . Some of their larger stores have a marquee in the car park with all their garden paraphernalia.

meanwhile I spent much of yesterday swinging on it, all my cares floating away as I watched the chooks. It is only a 2 seater and not long enough to lay on, and probably not the most long-lasting there is, but for now it will do.

Now just one problem ... how do I explain this very good tan that I am fast developing (despite using factor 30) when I am finally able to go back to work (just about to enter my 4th week of sick leave, and likely to be off another 3). I don't even like the sun but these Cypriot genes that I have inherited mean I go green, sorry brown, in the blink of an eye (apart from the legs of course, they take ages, meaning I am walking around with very dirty looking knees  )

Funny this thread should come up - we bought new garden furniture at the recent garden show and it was delivered last Saturday.

We LOVE the swinging chair!

That is the anti-chicken - actually she was watching James in the hot tub whilst I watered the garden. It is really solid and heavy, when the men came to deliver and put it together they said it would be really hard to move after so we should make sure we were happy with where it went, Its acutally outside my study at the front of the pergola - it will block the study light a little but TBH if its too sunny in there I can't see the computer screen.

It did come in blue, green and teracotta - we ordered the teracotta but it has been discontinued which was a bit of a pain. I actually didn't like the blue (most of my house is blue though!) as I didn't think it went well with the beige - I thought the green went better.

At the garden show they had a special "show price" of £550 - its tannalised pine. We also bought a table set which is a table, 6 chairs, cushions, parasol (rectangular) and a stand - this had a "show price" of £795. Both of these prices were "allegedly" specials and were nearly half off the regular price. BUT (yes that was a big but!) he said he would do a deal and did - we paid £700 for the lot, which I guess is nearer the real price!

I got my pod hanging chair last friday, couldn't wait for the pug to return, so assembled it myself :lol::lol: It was a bit of a struggle as I found the instructions after I'd done it :roll:

It's got scatter cushions in it and the movement is so relaxing. We're off next week so I plan on hanging around quite a bit :D8)

Not a double seater though Orps :)

We have a lovely wooden swig seat with a canopy that came complete with cushions in the end of season sale at Bridgemere garden center at leat 10 years ago :D

I put it back together on Sunday and although it needs a lick of wood preserver it's fine. The chains holding the seat under the canopy :? are adjustable so you can alter the angle of the backrest and seat base.

Lots of room for at least 2 plus the odd dog and chickens
