Snowy
Some gratuitous chook photos, they made me laugh at bedtime so I thought I'd share them with you! Come on girls - time for bed! "We're sleeping out here tonight Mum - it's too hot!" "Where shall I sleep Mum? Out here, or in there?" "Wherever you want Spice" "OK Mum I think I'll go inside" "Err, Muuum, Rosie's in the way" "You can get past her, don't be silly, get in there" "Good girl, see? She won't peck you, she's fast asleep" "fn fn fff f'I'm fin fnowf fMum!" "Spice I thought you wanted to get past Rosie, not under her" Half an hour later: "You sleeping outside now Rosie?" "Yes Mum, it's too hot to sleep on a fat feathery cushion" I love to see them sleeping outside - it looks so natural! And that's 6 outside and 5 inside hm, room for more? Ms Tilytinkle
Aaaaw SH, they are absolutely gorgeous, and seemingly roosting just as they should . .so natural. Teeee heeee,i think they're saying," c'mon lets show those humans a thing or two, lets now go back to basics - its been fun in this coup but lets teach em a thing of two . . ha all those years in design college, all that studying . .all that designing, all that skill & production . .huh c'mon you lot bck out. . lets just show them how its really done, the simplicity of instinct & inherent knowledge & design & improvising . .lets just show them ha who needs a cube in the summer !! teee heeeee " Plus we cant see the stars from inside" " Nor the moon" they ll buk buk in agreement . .. A friend of ours goes to France for her holidays every year, and where she stays is next to a farmor maybe small holding. Anyway, they have some chickens they free range all day & come the evening she says she could set her watch by the chickens, they ll file over to a specific tree & up they jump/fly. They all roost up on the branches, she said its a sight to behold. Seriously, what absolutely beautiful chickens & stunning photo's, so warming, bringing many internal smiles just looking at them .Aaaaaw how lovely... soo cute! hilda-and-evadne
Lovely photos, and such pretty chooks. My eye was caught also by the little black ties you've used to fasten two lots of weldmesh together - could I ask what they are? I tried "sewing" the overlapped edges of weldmesh together with fencing wire but fence wiring is too stiff to manipulate (and I haven't yet found any tool that will cut it!); I gave up after doing one side and have secured the edges together temporarily with ordinary garden wire. Ange1
Aww Snowy! That's brilliant! I can see I am going to be going to bed later and later as I will want to watch my girls at all hours! You must have had your camera in a handy place?! *Note to self - get camera out of desk drawer and put by back door!*
chocchick
I like the chicken stood in the way The pictures on the branches are lovely. What time do they go to bed? Katy goes about an hour before the other 2, who just wonder round refusing to go to bed.
Snowy
Thank you all for the lovely comments. It was such a lovely warm evening that I hung around whilst they went to bed and it just tickled me, all the shuffling and muttering and rearranging before they were finally settled. Worse than children! It was about 9pm. And yes my camera was (and usually is) by the back door! The black clips are cable ties - they have a multitude of uses, very handy when anchoring branches and wire!
