Goosey Lucy
moved from Coventry to the Isle of Man It has all happened in under 4 months and my head is spinning. We're renting a fabulous converted barn in the north part of the island. We have no relatives or friends here other than the two people OH met when he came to give a talk in April. He loved the island so much that we came for a week's holiday in May and now we're here. I drove our car, the cat was in her basket on the front seat, miaowing intermittently, the hens were in a box on the back seat, quietly purring. YS spent the whole trip trying not to scratch as he came down with chicken pox last Friday. Everyone survived the ferry crossing and less than 8 hours after leaving Coventry the girls were happily settled in their run, the boys were scooting about and OH and I were working like trojans to unload the van and car. Our cottage is fully furnished so it wasn't a major move but even so it was hard work. OH is off back to Coventry tomorrow to return the van and to continue sorting out a lifetime of 'stuff'. I still can't believe we're done it, we hadn't really thought about moving but as soon as the possibility arose it was full steam ahead. Apologies for the long post,
Ain't Nobody Here
Oh my word . You don't do things by halves . Congratulations, though . How exciting . Are you planning to buy a house there once you're settled? I can't believe you've just upped and moved just like that . Glad you've still got time to be on the forum though . Are you our first Isle of Man Omleteer?

Goosey Lucy
We're looking at a house tomorrow, our house isn't even on the market yet I've just posted on the vist an eglu page asking to be moved from Covntry, I didn't think to check if there was anyone else listed. Time for bed now, OH is muttering about Chicken World
Egluntyne
Congratulations Lucy. I wonder if you are the Isle of Man's only Eglu owner? One of the pluses about the move is that you no longer have to outfox the fox.

Ain't Nobody Here
One of the pluses about the move is that you no longer have to outfox the fox. There is a new eglu owner on the Isle of Man! I remember him/her saying they had no foxes.

BeckyBoo
How lovely, I've been to the Isle of Mann a couple of times for the TT (a lifetime ago before children obviously) and it was a beautiful place. Couperwife
wow what a sudden and amazing change you must remember to wave at the fairies when you go over fairy bridge though apparently its the law well done you cathy x
Goosey Lucy
Thanks for all your good wishes. The house we viewed today would be ideal if only it was less expensive. We're now considering our options. The boys have had a fabulous day playing outside on their bikes, scooters and trampoline. I'm still trying to get the house straight! At least everyone has their own clothes for the morning Chookiehen: We visited McDonalds when we were over last month, OH had work to do so we used the free Wifi. Luckily we're almost as far away as you can get so I don't think we'll be there too often. OH has returned to the UK with the van so this is my first night alone with the boys. The peace and quiet is amazing. Cathy: We waved to the fairies when we went over the bridge, perhaps that's why everything's working out? Mrs B: If we do buy the house we saw today the current owners rent the Granny flat regularly during TT week so if you want to revisit your youth next June, let me know! Phonix: I'd never been here before May! Egluntine: No foxes but there are polecat type creatures (brain's going fuzzy now) so I'm keeping the girls confined to barracks for a while. One day we'll pluck up the courage to do something similar, just got the get Son through school, pay off the mortgage etc. Excuses, excuses I know, just neither of us are very good at risk taking!! Goosey Lucy
It has taken some courage but after a difficult year I realised that this was an opportunity I would regret not taking. I'm a firm believer in things coming along at the right time, if we hadn't been meant to come I wouldn't have found a place to rent or suitable school for the boys. The timing is excellent for us as YS is about to start in Reception and ES is going into Y4 so he will have plenty of time to settle in before the transition to Secondary school. Jackiepoppies said Has your OH got a job there or does he have to commute? [Yes...I am being nosey but if I didn't ask I expect someone else would!] Don't worry about asking! OH works as a consultant for an American company and spends approximately 3 weeks out of every 4 in either Europe, London or the USA. I'm a teacher and hoping to pick up some Supply work. Today I found somewhere that stocks Layers Pellets (there aren't many here) then we had a fab time walking along the beach The boys love it here which makes it easier for me. I've realised I'm happy with my own company (not that I'm antisocial, just can make my own entertainment) so not having neighbours for a mile or so isn't a problem. It's not everyone's cup of tea but that's another thread entirely!
