Chicken Licken
survived 3 1/2 hours with my tutor group which was a bit of a marathon effort with year 11s!! Also taught the other 2 lessons and it was one of my duty days so non stop all day. Now I feel as if I have been steamrollered. The chookies are having a little scratch around before bed for them and for me!!!
Ms Marple
survived 3 1/2 hours with my tutor group which was a bit of a marathon effort with year 11s!! The chookies are having a little scratch around before bed for them and for me!!! Poor you. I am head of Year 11 and my lot also have about 3.5 hours with forms tomorrow - SMLT put so much thought into that one! I have tried hard to provide lots of things to occupy them and am having an assembly for one of the periods to give the tutors a rest. I hope they will forgive me.... but I don't make the plans I guess I am the enforcer.

theherd123
First day back for me today and thankfully just preping this afternoon. Not too much to prep as off on maternity leave in a week or so. I do hope everybody has a great autumn term, what is it - 14 teaching weeks til Christmas? Poplars
My brother went back this morning and I go back tomorrow... not looking forward to a 6 O'clock alarm though and the proper start of GCSE's as well... Not going to be fun Eve
The Dogmother
Rosie went back yesterday - she was a real grump bag in the morning, but was happy by the time she got home. Her school really messed up on the return dates though... last term, I asked for clarification on the return date as the diary on the school website said that Tuesday was an inset day, whereas the county website and the letter sent out by the school said that they started on Tuesday. The secretary said that school should start on Tuesday and that the diary on the site was wrong. They obviously didn't follow this up with a reminder to parents as Rosie said that school was half empty yesterday as lots of folks had gone by the (wrong) date which was still up on the website
Cinnamon
Same at ours Clare. It was only bacause my friend met a teacher in the supermarket that I knew school stars tomorrow & not today Typically, after 6 weeks of trying to get the daughters OUT to socialise & failing, they both decided that today, the last day of the hols, they would meet up with pals in towns 12 miles away from each other. I have spent the day dropping off & picking up

Couperwife
oh what a shame that you had a rubbish first day you mention the fact that the other girls are pretty, but intimidating - the pretty part goes out of the window if they are intimidating to you. they are probably loud because they are really nervous. only one boy on the course - of course he will think he is something special - he now thinks that he can have the pick of all girls on the course. i used to be the only girl on a course of boys, it took them about 1 week to accept me as an "honorary boy" I was never anything more that "a mate" (still and that was 19 years ago ) dont worry, it will take you a few days to settle in, then you will know who to talk to and who to "not go near with a barge pole" (((hugs))) cathy x

clootie
The boy is acting the way he is because he thinks he has to impress you all. He probably feels a bit awkward and he's putting on the front of being super confident and laddish. The girls are nervous just like Couperwife said but they're probably looking at you and thinking "she's really pretty....." just as you are thinking the same of them !! Don't worry - give it time and you'll probably bond to be a really tight group and good friends.
Chicken Licken
Hmmm only another 7 full weeks until half term Then of course another 7 If I last until Christmas on on my timetable it will be a miracle indeed!! Bread makers just bleeeped finish so that has to cheer me up considerably!!
Lewis
I'm back in on friday, lower 6th and year sevens go back early so we can get used to the school without it being full of students! The Dogmother
As my grandma used to say... 'Pretty is as pretty does; looks are just a genetic accident'. I'd wait for them to prove themselves as friends rather than just pretty and loud. Good luck Scrambled. I can tell that Rosie is back at school now - a head full of lice tonight!!!! She's been free of them all summer too
ubereglu
Poor Rosie and you Clare, as I presume you get the nasty job of getting rid of them. I'm back to school tomorrow and have actually caught up with everything I was supposed to do over the summer and managed to paint all of my massive, (18"x 24") self portrait canvas-I'm actually impressed and very pleased with it too! The Dogmother
That's very kind Clootie, but we use BizNiz, which is brilliant as a comb through. I am just frustrated (every term) that other parents aren't as conscientious as me. She has loads of enormous big crawlers and no babies or eggs, so they can't have been on there for long. She's been sent off today with strict instructions to keep her hair tied back and her head away from everyone else.
clootie
Oh bless her, it's such a shame. You're right, if only everyone else would do the same. This attitude of "he/she will get them anyway, there's no point" infuriates me. Anyway, they only go for clean heads There you go, don't wash her hair for 3 weeks !! chickencam
My eldest two went off in the pouring rain this morning for their first day back and their bus was late so they got really wet DS got up with a good attitude this morning and seems determined to make more of the great school that he is at this year, so here's hoping. YD got a merit mark on her first day back yesterday for being keen and answering lots of questions, most of them incorrectly apparently but they liked her attitude. The house is very quiet the weather is dreary and I have got loads to do and don't feel like doing any of it. Some of this may have to do with staying up until 1am to watch Andy Murray's match at the US Open last night.
ubereglu
Well the first day back at school wasn't bad at all and it was really nice to see all my friends again. It's been a bit weird all the same again as the new head-or should I say 'Principal'-has made quite a few changes, including putting us into houses and changed the way admin is in the morning. Oh well, I'm just going to have to get used to it. Mind you, he is a really nice guy and went round the whole school today to see how everyone was getting on. BeckyBoo
Just getting coats on and back to school we go! It's been a lovely summer and I shall be sad to see them back as I love having them around, but they are all looking forward to new classes and new friends - Smallest Boy is off to his pre school induction this morning and (touch wood) he's really enthusiastic as well. I hope they have a LOVELY day Mrs B
