Introduction of Poultry Tax - 2009

Recommended Posts

When I read the title I thought "Ha, glad I'm in the US." And then I remembered it is an election year (McCain vs. Obama) We constantly hear the catch phrase "No new taxes" and I had to laugh...It won't be long before they start to tax the air we breath. Whatever happened to "No taxation, without representation". :D

It surely couldn't be described as a 'congestion' charge, as the more congested the chicken, the less it would produce. Possibly it could be classed as a 'digestion' charge instead.

I would hope, of course, that should Gordon 'Scots Dumpy' Brown go ahead with his decision to bring in the 'digestion charge', that he would look into increasing the amounts paid out by his government in Chick Benefit, Laying Tax Credits and the Winter Corn Allowance.

The present Government would give a small allowance to be used on 'crocs' and encourage the immediate safe disposal of such hideous items of footwear. Never again will our pavements be soiled with such vividly coloured and monstrous 'hospital' shoe-wear.

Yours, Gordy. Making streets safer through sensible (and non-outrageous) footwear.

:x With all due respect Mr Brown will you stop trying to change the subject [as is typical of all politicians] and address the very real concerns of the Omlet Party regarding the Poultry Tax.

:wall::wall: We do not wish to be seen as unreasonable but, when you take into account our very considerable efforts to produce a good sustainable source of food that does not need to be packaged [it comes in a recycleable package, in case you were unaware],or transported vast distances, we feel we should be rewarded with tax concessions.

As for your comments re Crocs, have you taken into consideration that due to their ultra light weight, wearers are helping the environment by avoiding putting too much pressure on the earths surface

That cannot be said of your Government :shameonu::shameonu:

Are you suggesting a 'Crocs Amnesty', where we should hand in our Crocs at a local Police station, in return for what exactly? Safer streets? Given that we would be trekking the streets in bare feet, then I would hope that the 'Digestion Charge' would be stretched to cover dog owners as well, then the money spent on 'Poo Patrols', to ensure our safe passage home, croc-less and penny-less.

Hi Paola,

We moved here on August 13th so that we can hopefully live at a slower pace and give the boys freedom to play and experience the sorts of things my husband and I did when we were little: fields to make dens in, streams to build dams, bike trips with no parents and so on.

We're only renting for now but I have seen my dream house...just need the money now

It's great financially too because dear Gordon doesn't run things here, we have our own Government (Tynwald) which dates back to the Vikings. Income tax is at most 18%, base rate is only 10% so my teaching salary goes a lot further here.

So no Poultry Tax for me!
