abwsco
I loathe packing so always leave it until the night before. I usually roll or fold and things are still always creased!
The Dogmother
After years of travelling, I found that rolling things works best for me
Cinnamon
Likewise, I am a roller Stuff balls of socks or knickers into shoes, put jeans at the bottom & lighter things on top. To be honest, a bit of creasing won't harm. You are on holiday,so just chill & don't worry about it. And whatever you do, DO NOT BUY A TRAVEL IRON
The Dogmother
I just shake things out and hang them to steam in the bathroom when I have a shower.
Cinnamon
Me too Clare. In fact I don't even iron at home,so the chances of me ironing on holiday are zilch
..lay a little egg for me
Put underwear and socks in last, by stuffing them in the corners of the case which don't usually get filled well as you pack the bigger stuff. I've heard rolling is best but I have not had much luck...perhaps I am doing it wrong!
Ana's flock
I'm a roller too... and try to travel with things that don't crease too badly. If it's a business trip and have to look smarter the following day, the trick is to hang them as soon as you arrive to your destination and, as Claret wrote, hang them in the bathroom and have a hot shower, or a luxurious slow bath if you've got the time. The steam does the job! Enjoy your holiday!
Blackrocksrock
I do things flat as possible and get loads in my carry on bags that way. travel as light as possible is the key
Christian
Trousers/jeans in first, so that the legs and coming out of the case (if that makes sense)? Pack everything else in (I am a roller too) and then fold the trousers/jeans legs in. I pack the shoes with socks/underwear. I also use the 'shirt in shower steam method' for work shirts and am away 3 nights a week or so. Creases always come out. Have a good holiday
ClaireG
Thank you all. Cinnamon i have no intention of buying a travel iron. Myb ironing board is in the shed and has been in there since we moved here 2 and a half years ago. DH thinks im allergic to ironing
kannie
I roll too. My mother in law recommended tissue paper!
Minnie the Moocher
If I'm travelling with OH I always pack half my things in my case and half in his. He of course does likewise. Then if one of our suitcases goes missing on its journey it's not a total disaster as we both have some clothes to wear. I'm a roller too. Rhapsody
1) Pack change of underwear, cosmetics and swimsuit in hand luggage. 2)Empty linenbasket into suitcase, stuff clothes in and sit on case. 3) On arrival to your hotel, give case to the laundry service, all clothes will come back clean and pressed. Always worked for me.

Redwing
I never worry. Put it this way, you will never see any of the people you meet on holiday ever again so it doesn't matter if they don't like the creases! It's very liberating
ClaireG
Getting the hotel to launder stuff I do tend to mix mine and DHs stuff up just incase mind you i think i'd fair better than him if my stuff went missing rather than his Will also remember to pack essential bits in carry on bag. Minnie the Moocher
Wooohoooo! I created real-life links to three made-up websites in my lame attempt at humour! I cannot be held responsible for the contents of aforementioned websites - they probably don't go anywhere... ...do they?
ClaireG
Minnie. I think im nearly packed only the stuff that can't be packed until the last minute to go now. I'm normally quite organisied and have lists galore but don't think i've been this nearly packed 6 days until the off before.
redhotchick
Try to take as little as possible. It's liberating not to have to lug a big suitcase around. OH and I travel with hand luggage only. In these days of minimal liquids in hand luggage on planes you have to plan a bit more. I've just been away for a week and the only toiletry I had to buy was hair conditioner (the one in the hotel was rubbish). Toothepaste, deodorant and tube of suncream all fitted in a plastic zip lock bag. Even travelling around S. E. Asia for 3 weeks I only take hand luggage. If the steam from shower/bath doesn't get all the creases out you can try blasting the garment with a hairdryer.
The Dogmother
I travelled in West Africa for 3 months with only a smallish backpack, but then that was over 20 years ago, and my comfort requirements were somewhat different from what they are now
