Old Speckled Hen Posted January 9, 2009 Share Posted January 9, 2009 Today has been slightly misty with the sun trying to shine through. There have been patches of blue sky but never where the sun was. Temp has been 4 degrees but as the sun is going down there is more frost expected. The fields have rung with the raucous sounds of rooks and the whole countryside has that "just waiting for spring" bleakness about it. There is not a breath of air with smoke from the hamlet chimneys curling up in that almost straight way before disappearing, leaving just the scent of wood smoke and coal. Chook n Boo Mum Posted January 9, 2009 Share Posted January 9, 2009 Got in my DH's car earlier & it registered 13.5C....my words equated to "I don't believe it!", and sure enough within the distance of our drive it had returned to the far more reasonable 3.5C, within a further 200yds, it had gone off the temperature scale (so below 2C) and merely registered the black ice sign. There's obviously some heat in the sun, if you are lucky enough to find some & sit in a very sheltered spot - like under the Roadster's bonnet! Now the view from the window is beautiful, moonlit and could easily be 3 inches deep in snow it's so white and the gizmo is registering -4.5C.....brrr They could be right with the -9 in this part of Sussex! I hope my chooklies are snuggled up warm, we've been making plans for putting the exbatts under cover when they arrive! Keep warm everybody! We drove into Stratford this morning (20 miles) to get something for the birthday party that Rosie is going to today. Until about 7 miles out of Stratford, we were driving through a winter wonderland... everything was white!
