stoice
I hope they're all on meters. If not they should be made to be. That would soon stop them

Paola
I will be honest, I do love Starbucks coffee but this is soooo wasteful The world has gone mad
clootie
That's a shocker !! It's actually hard to believe that in this day and age a company could be so wasteful. I'm a Costa girl thankfully. Starbucks will be hoping that all of this will go away quickly............methinks NOT !!

Guest
I love Starbucks. If this is true then it's sad but it won't stop me buying there - I'll look for it next time I'm in and make a comment. Mind you the source wasn't one that was never known to stretch the truth!

mostin
I adore Starbucks too so I hope they soon change things. If they don't want to be constantly touching taps with their hands because they are so busy (the only real reason I can see for the madness) then get foot pedal operated taps. It's not brain surgery. I'm sure some time and motion consultant will be brought in and paid thousands to work that one out though.
Plum
and how much resources will it take to make the foot operated taps. I'm only playing devils advocate. I'm really shocked as well

Plum
They could just use elbow taps.
Guest
OK I believe this now, just seen in on BBC News. Of course they are now thinking about their position or something like that. Along the same lines - if you are in Costa take a good look at all their advertising for their "ethical" rain forest coffee - lots of frogs (actually they gave me a cuddly one for James but I am a VERY good customer). Look at the signs, then look closely and you'll see its only 30% of the coffee that is coming from the ethical farms!
mostin
They could just use elbow taps. they could indeed , I don't mind as long as they don't keep them running.
lisa33
Our restaurant and deli at work are all Starbucks. I refuse to use them and refuse to get a catering card so I can't use them. It does mean though that if I don't have time to do lunch I have to go to the pub.
chickenanne
It wouldn't strike me as being as awful if Starbucks didn't market themselves as being green.... Unbelievable it's to "Prevent germs festering in the tap"....eh? What a load of nonsense, if my immune system isn't up to drinking boiled water in coffee/tea then frankly I don't think I should take the risk of going out in public at all. clootie
Funny how hospitals don't have the same policy about germs in their taps is it not?
Mutrix Farmers
Funny how hospitals don't have the same policy about germs in their taps is it not? I was just thinking the same thing! And since when does cold water kill germs anyway? It might wash off surface muck but as I'm always telling Son "germs aren't luminous green"!!
